squad depth only becomes really important when you have injuries
or when there’s a pandemic meaning loads of matches need to be crushed into a short spell....so the rules are changed allowing loads of subs

The use of multiple subs puts us at a disadvantage compared to other teams.
Wilder hardly ever uses his squad. He’s always been a big believer in continuity where if you play well you start in the 1st 11.

Don't know if the rumours of the injury being serious are true, but there's no fleck or JOC in tonight's line up. Fingers crossed this is the first one that's not right.

Yeah but I'm a pig on the wind-up because I'm a new member here (all new members are pigs on the wind-up), so I don't think the Villa management would have taken much notice of it.

Egan got bossed today

Egan's great, but if he has a weakness it's that ball over the top. Often catches him out. Agree that Davis gave him a torrid time today, but he fouled him 3 times in the first half, wouldn't say he bossed him.

Davis was great. If we had a target like him we would have won by 2 or 3 yesterday. He was aggressive, good in the air and very tidy on the floor. I thought he’d scored when Henderson’s iron wrist got in the way.

He certainly upset Eggs - there was a moment after the third foul where Eggs plaintiffly held up 3 fingers to Oliver asking for help. He also got the better of Bash a few times as well. Against a less robust back line than ours he’s going to be a wrecking ball.

Him, Grealish and Henderson were the best 3 players on the pitch.
