Probably because you can't just make up rules as you go, however reasonable one party might think they are. I doubt everyone would "get on board" with changing tonight's result if Villa are staying up on a point, and I think even fewer people would be on board if Villa had absolutely nothing left to play for and we had a European spot on the line.

A practical solution is that we take the one point and move on, albeit with a burning sense of injustice. Because I can absolutely guarantee that's what will happen.

If they'd have had any bollocks about them, a decision to either award a goal or allow us to walk the ball into the net at the start of the second half would have happened.

So even after weeks of talks not everyone was on board with it?

I'm as pissed off as everyone else about what happened last night, and a proper investigation into the failings needs to be done, a full examination of what the rules and regulations say about this kind of technical failure, and in the light of that maybe we seek some remedy. What I very much doubt is that there is any solution that everyone will agree with because everyone is tremendously biased.

But the big problem is this: fixtures are coming thick and fast and we've already picked up a few injuries, there's no guarantee that we go back to a replay at Villa and walk out with a point, never mind three. Can you imagine we're in Europe by a point but lose out because we replay the Villa game and lose to a team fighting for its life? It's not like we were all over them yesterday. It was a crap game where we lost out because of an awful goalkeeping/defensive error was missed.
