Jack O'Connell

Geee ‘or. I’m not disagreeing with his talent, but he’s £20m to £25m with add ons in the present climate.

Stefan Savic is currently being touted about at £19.5m.

All deals are including add ons etc. So 53m might be 25 up front, plus ...

It's not that farfetched.

If I was the chairman i wouldn't deal with add ons except % sell ons, and just stand firm for lump sum money up front. Fuck em.

If the ‘Pool can’t afford £50m for Timo Werner, they can’t afford £53m for JOC.

I don't think it's case of them not being able to afford him more they don't want to spend that sort of money whilst the football landscape is so uncertain. Their owners aren't paupers but they aren't near the top of The Prem rich list either and most of their big purchases over the last few years have been financed through outgoings ie Coutinho out Van Dyk in for a large profit.

£40m wouldn't be unrealistic. He's a superb player. Our biggest asset.

Whilst I agree with others on this thread that no one really knows what the transfer market will be like post CV19 I feel that should be our minimum figure to even entertain a conversation. He's under contract and can anyone really say he's worth just over half of a Harry Maguire?

So he's worth less than Tyrone Mings after a reasonable season in The Championship?

Compared to what Man. U. paid for Maguire, it'd be a steal.

See above 👍

No chance they are going to be spending anything like that kind of money on a central defender when they've got Van Dijk and Gomez.

Totally agree. If they won't spend £49m on Werner due to concerns re the football landscape they aren't spending £53m on a position where they are strong enough already.

There's been no precedent set yet for the post-covid transfer marker climate. For now, I wouldn't budge on the £40m valuation.

There's rumours in papers that Chelsea are looking to spend £50m on Lewis Dunk, £70m on Ben Chilwell... O'Connell is an elite player now.

See above again. Yes Dunk has slightly more experience in The Prem but he's not a patch on JOC. If he goes for anything like £50m then all it does is increase our bargaining position if or when anyone comes in for Jack.

Fly safely blade.
Let us all know if swillsborough still looks like a shithole from space.

At least he'll be able to take pictures to prove the earth is flat 😁

Lovren's leaving and both Matip and Gomez has had a few injuries. A left footed defender who's comfortable on the ball would make sense for them to bring in, but they'll surely have long list of targets.

Liverpool are not buying anyone this summer according to some rags out there.

JOC and Egan are the 2 players we need to keep the most. Out defence has been the rock on which weve built our success and they've both got plenty more years left on them.

Ps Id have added Bash to the list apart from his age

Bash is fitter than both and has made more tackles/headers than both. Don't right Bash off.

I think his point was that Basham is 5/6 years older than Egan and O’Connell so obviously doesn’t have as many years left in him.

Having said that though, I agree with your comment on his fitness and I think that’s something which could see him playing for a lot longer than most players normally do.

Seems a weird stance by them. Lovren is leaving, Origi and Shaqiri could definitely be improve upon.

Their net spend since 2016 is approximately £75m, I find it hard to believe that they don’t have the money to throw £50m at a CB or £50m at Werner.

Bang on. After Fleck, Bash has arguably been our best player so far this season. A couple of early slip ups, but he has stepped up magnificently ever since.

He has easily got a few more seasons in him at this level too.

If Van Djik was £75m from South Spamton why should JOC be any less? Let's not forget he wasn't always the player he is today, he had fantastic potential which he has stepped up to. Southampton weren't performing that great at that time either and VVD had just comeback, or was close to, from a serious injury lay off so I'd politely tell Pool to sod off and return with a realistic offer.

JOC is worth 80 mil assuming financial climates are unaltered, or the 'new' 80 mil if not :)

£80 million .....have you visited planet earth lately ?!

I think that JOC is a good player, possibly borderline england squad, but at 26 yrs old he's fairly inexperienced to be going for big money directly to a top 3 club.

I hope that he doesn't leave us this summer, but if he did I could see him going to Leicester if they sold Söyüncü (who I could see going to one of the big boys) and as a replacement for Evans in the 1st team. Two seasons later making the move upwards.

If he were 4 years younger, he'd be gone. As it is, we stand a chance of keeping him, depending on where we finish.

I genuinely think he's England squad ready. He should have been in the pre-Euros assessment squads for sure, had the apocalypse not hit.

Ask VVD to run up and down the left wing for 90 mins and put mint crosses in.

I think Egan is the comparison for VVD.
Our players have proven themselves to be Premier League quality.

VVD is a fair amount better than all our players. That doesn't make our players shit. It makes him one of the best in the world

I know i'm just saying VVD and JOC play vastly different roles.

It's been 4 years since he played in a back 4. I think Spurs could want him, Nicolaus_Copernicus Leicester shout is possible. But I don't think the very biggest clubs would offer him a starting spot. I don't know him but from everything I've seen he'll expect to play every game
