Can't we do both, especially if it's Champions League, or if we have a decent run in Europe. Surely that's what sport is all about, especially with local rivals, giving it the biggy when the chance arises.

I mean it would be naive to think a season like this is gonna be our standard, so we should definitely treat it like something special. On the other hand, we have a young and exciting squad and should be able to finish top 12 in the Premier League regularly, with some peaks to place 6-10, so European football should be on the table once every 2-3 years imo.

A couple of things make me think that this could be incorrect. Firstly we will have a massive shake-up of players next season. 10 are out of contract we may keep one or two (depending on what we offer Jags and Eastwood) but there will be clear out of players. In CWAK style the least used players go out making more wage funds available for two or three first team challengers to come in. This is why we have had the continual rise, Ebanks Landel out Stearman in, Stearman out Egan in etc.
Secondly because we have replaced the revolving door to the managers office that all other prem clubs seem to have well greased we have a structure, a plan, continual improvement and a very fit and highly motivated squad that will get fitter, more motivated, increase in skill level and able to adapt to tactics. So the usual pessimism that accompanies being a Blade has mostly gone to a small niggle (the little what if!). But think of our squad under Bassett we were not able to survive after losing Brian Deane, but you can take any two out of the outfield players in the first eleven and there are two replacements dying to make an impression.
What an enviable position that would be to any manager coming into a club. So we have a culture and structure in place that has proven to be successful and keeps improving. Therefore seasons like this could just continue. Who knows?

I’m eyeing Hertha Berlin’s recent form very closely and urging them on every week. The idea of drawing them in the group stages and watching united in the Olympiastadion is mouth watering for me as I moved here in August and the only thing I miss about England is watching United in person. And my Mum.

That’s one stadium I would really love to see us play in and have hoped for since visiting it in about 1986.

I generally agree with that, but CW is not gonna stay here forever. And even with a brilliant manager, all teams are going to struggle at some point. You can't get a 100% rate on your incoming transfers, something we have seen with Robinson for example.

We are in a great position, and Sheffield is such a big city that we should be able to really grow our fanbase, but we still got a lot of competition so really growing into a team that always compete for European places is a bit of a reach imo.

Maybe wrong and I've only seen the usual headlines written to grab attention but "large gatherings" seem off the menu until Spring 2021 so id be surprised if any games are allowed to be attended at all next season probably open the gates for the Euros next summer

Spanish allocations are particularly small as they don't really have the away fan culture.

Oh and there is a pandemic with no end to restrictions for mass gatherings yet.

In our case that could be transforming us from a League One club to a club that wins trophy’s (why not?) and competes in Europe more often than not.

The lure of trying to build a legacy like that will be huge for Wilder and like any Blade would, it’ll be something he’d dream of doing.

Agreed - and this is the key for me. While ever we make "progress" CW should stay. Continued progress may mean the prince doesn't have the finance to sustain a further push, but continue progress should make us much more attractive to the super rich brigade.

Attracting the super rich may put some of our fans off, but taking a long hard look at how the Premier league has advanced since it's inception means to be constant top 10 challenges then finance is needed. Leicester City should be applauded for doing it in a quiet and sensible way and we should look to emulate what they've done and are presently doing.

The ground is pretty lego(ish) but when you get 10 minutes just put Leicester City new training ground into google and see that their new facility could possibly be the bet in the Country.

This is where we should be aiming.

PS: Leicester doesn't have an airport either.
