Not necessarily people still WFH and 6pm is tea time. I cant see them wanting the blade as an "opener" to the PL returning Arse v Man City makes more sense. I`m only guessing from what he said Arsenal match will be on then "afterwards" Sheffield United V Aston Vill. Have a look at BBC Breakfast on the iPlayer and go to about 8.35am which is when the sport was on and see what you think. Maybe I`m wrong ?

Fair enough... just opinions and doesn’t really matter which slot we get to me or more importantly the team I suspect.

Really not looking forward to it as I’d have been in attendance like another 3k blades. I’ve not watched any re runs of games as that’s also a reminder of what we’re all missing.

Do I believe BBC would take the first game back if offered it? I think they'd snap your hands of for those kind of ratings.
Personally I'd be surprised if they were offered it as I'd thought all the broadcasters would want it if it were going free to air.

I was really hoping they would just pause the Cup and pick up again next March where there might be a slim chance of fans being in grounds by then.

I disagree – it’s this squad that has earned the right to play in the quarter finals, not next season’s squad. The “day out” nature of the Cup should be secondary to the competition itself. At any rate, it has a poorer argument for the need to have fans at it compared to the PL given the visible lack of enthusiasm a lot of our fans have shown for FA Cup games in recent seasons.

European football will have to have fan exchange programs, can't travel due to the quarantine rules, German team coming to England and an English team going to Germany swap fans, they each learn each others songs and go on their behalf haha

Football is better with fans no doubt, like a kebab is better with a portion of cheesy chips, but I'm still happy with just the kebab if that's all that's available, the "nothing without fans" brigade would rather starve.

I haven't read the rest of the thread, and don't know the general vibe of how folk are feeling, but for me, this is coming back far too soon.

There are no trends within the national data to suggest that this, or any other easing of the lockdown is justified.

Do I want footy back? Of course. But I'd rather we were all safe.

I agree with the lockdown bit, seems the stages are coming far too fast, shouldn't we be waiting at least 3 or 4 weeks to see the data? And they're far too convoluted, 6 people from different households bollocks/ Can walk through a house but not sit in it/ Can only see 1 Nigel a week unless you're within 8 miles of a Little Chef etc, how do you go from stay indoors for the love of God to 6 mates in a park within what seems like days?

On football however, if the players/ staff/ camera operators and journalists are safe, then I don't have an issue with it, or any sport/entertainment coming back if done properly - I think it can play a huge part in the morale of the nation, give people reasons to stay in, and help support some businesses, but can the general population be trusted not to gather etc, that's the problem, and will they see it as a sign that normal life has returned and that's dangerous.

Personally I am not planning on changing my lockdown habits any time soon for my own sake and the sake of my family, and will continue to stay home, I fear others won't be so cautious though.

You're bang on the money there, imo - in terms of how you're hoping it'll benefit us, the risks it will bring (I think they're nailed on, tbh, folk can't be trusted) and how you're intending to handling it anyway - we're the same, we won't be changing owt, it isn't worth the risk.
