It amazes me how many people don’t understand the basic economics of a football club.

It’s a good question and I think the answer, in simple terms, is that he’s being badly advised. That said, I think there’s only West Ham that might be buyable, and of a decent size. Perhaps he sees Newcastle as being relatively cheap and sees the mismanagement of Man U and Arsenal as being an opportunity to break into the top four. If I were him I’d be waiting to see what happens with Man City and FFP.
There’s talk of wanting Pochettino, presumably they think he can do with Newcastle what he did with Spurs but Spurs were already a decent club when Poch came in, they’d been in the champions league with Redknapp and made a lot of money to reinvest from selling the likes of Bale, Modric, Berbatov, they’d been building since ENIC took over, with a long term strategy.
I suppose clubs like us and Leicester have made it look easier than it is.

Yes because HRH went through all the Shite and nastiness of the court case to just say... "Actually Kev, ive changed my mind - you can have it all back like"... "oh the Arbitration?, yeah im not really that bothered." "you can have it all back..."

Just how many of our games do you think our mini HRH actually comes to watch ?
How many times do you think this guy will go to Newcastle ? like our mini HRH it will be perhaps the odd game or two when they play in London and he's on a visit, he may even come over if it's a big enough TY occasion down in London, and maybe he'll have TV games sent over for the kids to watch, till they gets bored with it, who knows, but pound to a penny that's what will happen because like most people though I love watching my team on TV unless that love is there it's just another game, it's football without the nerves with someone leading you by the hand through a game and in most cases trying to give it a bit of life .
That's not the joy of football for most fans, that's just soccer, what ever that is...….

The view from Newcastle seems to be this is due to their impending takeover and to allow that to happen more smoothly, in which case are they saying that this potential purchase has influenced and affected the ownership of an existing Premier League club? if so that sounds like another very good reason to not allow that takeover to occur.

If there is any concern about a club being bought and then influencing the ownership / results of another existing club then that sounds like a very good reason to not sanction the sale to me.

He and his wife have a home in Sheffield.

It’s the Saudi Investment fund investing in Newcastle not a private individual, whatever his standing. I doubt he was ever expected to turn up at St James Park without a top on and punch the odd horse.
