Modern day John Gannon
No way! Gannon never had Fleck's strength and speed!Modern day John Gannon
Currie was doing it from the age of 18, he wasn't a late starter, he spent 10 years at the highest level including more caps than Fleck.A bit before my time mate and obviously seen loads of clips and know how highly he was rated by all clubs not just ours. I did say all round midfielder though.
I know Currie was a wonderful player who could put the ball on a sixpence but did he have the tenacity and ball winning skills of Fleck and ability to tear past players from a standing start like Fleck does.
For me Fleck has everything in his game including now adding goals.
Not saying I disagree with you by the way but interested in your opinion on Currie in the above areas

He was very strong and couldn't be knocked off the ball, he was a decent header of the ball as well.
He never really had any spells when he wasn't playing well. Fleck has.
Obviously has vision and passing ability was unmatched.
But most of all he was an entertainer. That's what football's about. People went just to see him play.
Older fans will tell you that Hagan was better than Currie.
The midfielder/half back with a better record than any of them was Nudger Needham.
Fleck is very good but he's not in the class of those three.
Shows his talent by simply showing how many clips against Man City and Arsenal are in there. Some of the players he's mugged off this season, and in that clip![]()
Fair enough. As coaxing star says different era as well. Agree with you that it should be about entertainers, players to get you off your seatCurrie was doing it from the age of 18, he wasn't a late starter, he spent 10 years at the highest level including more caps than Fleck.

Different era and different types of player though. Would Currie thrive in the hustle and bustle of modern day football, maybe, we'll never know.
It would probably be easier comparing Fleck to someone like Willie Carlin, who was sold to Derby County and was immediately an important part of their title winning side.
Yes to Leicester. Was at Notts County when Derby won the league titleI think he'd left before they won the league.
Derby's promotion side, I think he'd left before they won the league.

Well said ! His passing is sublime. So many of his passes have a perfect shape, accuracy, and pace, which gives the receiver the option to comfortably control the ball as he wishes, or let it run into space. The thing that stood out most for me in those clips was the quality of his passes .
Even when under pressure , not only were they delivered with pinpoint accuracy but also perfectly weighted such that the receiving player didn't even have to break stride .
To do that so consistently is very difficult to achieve and ,in that respect alone , it puts JF right up there with some of the best we've ever had .

Sorry for another thread on Flecky but just seen this video, just looks even better on highlights!!! Reyt player.
And the rest. Peak TC was, well the best. You can stick Messi and Maradona and C. Ronaldo and the rest where the sun doesn’t shine. They’ve never worn the red and white, so they are inferior.Peak TC was a £80m player in today's market.
Very good, id like to see a similar one of norwoods passes and McGoldricks bits from last season
