I wouldnt have thought so they are in what BJ call a self contained "bubble". Sounds like its people disobeying social distancing from what I've read in one area.

Hundreds of workers in German slaughterhouses - many from Eastern Europe - have tested positive and now thousands more tests are being done in that sector. One slaughterhouse alone - in Coesfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia - has seen 260 cases.

We are more likely to see a spike in London because the tube and busses were packed today judging by the pictures. Public will get blamed but there looked to be a lack of distancing measures put in place by TFL! They are so shoddy. Buses in Wakey have clear lines with some seats taped off and signs all over the windows etc, pictures from London today show no signs and nothing taped off on buses or tube!

Public transport wasn't packed today in London - it was 9% busier. And as usual the media manage to find the one bus which was busy. Its going to happen, we have to take a few risks or else we are all going to sit at home until they find a cure.

There are over 30m people in the UK aged under 45. To date 384 people in that age group have died from this thing. There is little to no danger to a professional footballer and their young families.

The only players who have legitimate concerns are those who live with and care for a seriously ill, or elderly family member. 'Because I'm black' isn't a legitimate concern.
But their transmission to others who are over 45 is a big risk

If we put that furlough idea to them (maximum is £2500 a month) then we will soon see who are more worried about their health or bank balances .

The media narrative on London has been ridiculous from the off. I live down here and by and large the place has been dead.

Same here - there's probably as many media on the streets/public transport looking for a photo opportunity as real people......they should go home

Here we go again
Now Norwich are whinging that relegation should be scrapped if the Championship doesn't finish properly , and promotion from there is not decided by completing their matches.
Is there anyway they would accept that they have caused their own relegation , maybe by not being good enough ?

I do agree with Norwich on this one, but that's only cause I hate Leeds and it would be funny as fuck! 🤣

Is that 9% of the number currently using public transport, or 9% based on numbers at normal footfall?

I ask because school holidays (to use an example) normally shows around a 12% drop in commuter levels, based on journeys made during term time. Anyone who commutes during both periods will see a massive difference, and would be forgiven for thinking the number was much more.

Ah, fuck it! I saw 'em at Finningley last century anyway.
A long time ago (in his case a divorce and remarriage ago) but a mate of mine got married in a village church in Lincolnshire. The Red Arrows we’re out and about and obviously spotted them coming out the church. Next thing we knew they flew over the top of the church in formation. Not one of us got the bloody photo though.

There is only probably merit in that argument when;

1. The EPL have concluded all their fixtures
2. The EFL Championship Clubs despite having the opportunity to complete the season bottle it and go for PPG.

Why should a team especially Dirty Weeds get promoted to the EPL when the EPL has completed its fixtures but the EFL haven't through choice.

The self interest six's arguments will peter away when the EPL gets going again. It will soon be down to three relegated teams looking for excuses at the end of the season. All six have an opportunity to avoid relegation by playing the season out they should do that rather than bleat about issues such as neutral venues. What next its not fair on the fans 😀.

That'll be head of kick it out and considering there is investigations as to why black people are getting hit harder still ongoing I think he's perfectly right to have

I can see why Troy has been wheeled out. He chairs Kick it out....and there's evidence to suggest CV-19 is racist in that it effects the BAME population greater.

I think he has every right to express his opinion that it’s too early to play and it’s understandable from his point of view.

Why does he need to mention calling the current season “null and void“? Rather than being postponed until October or decided on PPG?

He doesn’t need to get involved in that discussion and it only weakens his argument.

This is the tube today taken by TFL workers. No sign of any notices or seats taped off.

So all season when we have bettered or equalled teams and the Manager has come on afterwards saying we werent at our best thats why we lost etc etc etc so if the PL returns what excuse are Managers going to wheel out now when the Blades beat them. I can just imagine all the virus related excuses. :)

Now I wonder who will get the Blame for that Boris or Sadiq ?
It will be Boris he should have told TFL where to put the lines which seats to cordon off and what colour tape to us in his Sunday Speech.

Infact no he should have gone round every bus and tube train and put the markings on himself.

I'm getting really worried about how the season ends now.
Is there any 'sporting merit', algorithm, system or whatever that somehow manages to get United in the bottom 3?
Anything at all? What if they just take only the games against Liverpool and Man City and decide the relegation places on that?

If the season ends with home and away games but behind closed doors (supposedly PL in discussions with police, stadium safety managers and Govt)

Would we be 'bigger blades' if thousands of us congregated outside the ground to show our support for our team - or stayed the fuck away and showed our support for common sense?

Apologies if this is already posted (not read the thread) but was told yesterday that the restart plan is to play games from 12 June (1 game on a Friday, 4 sat, 4 sun, 1 Monday) with final fixtures 1/2 August. Some midweek games thrown in to get it all done. Cup quarters and semis played during this period too, with cup final August 8th
Was the person who gave you this information a PL or SKY/BT executive, or someone at a bus stop dribbling in to a purple tin ?

He's not a million miles off IF we manage to get started again, which I highly doubt.

Hope you're well anyway mate? We're booked for Lanza again in October at the same time so hoping things have calmed down slightly by then so I can enjoy watching the mighty blades in The Dog & Duck again 👍

All good mate , what a wonderful afternoon that was in the D&D watching dem Blades dismantle Burnley .

We were over again for Cheltenham ( Lanza every year that week) and had the game against Newcastle all lined up ( including John from the Aussie Bar !) before Mikel Arteta developed a sniffle and then....... groan.

I did love that Burnley first half , lot went up when that 3rd went in ... keep the faith pal and see you over there for the Europa League final !

In a thread full of rumour, counter rumour, conjecture, speculation and wishful thinking, here is a little something direct from the mouth of someone truly in the know.

Talking to a friend high up at the FA and at the heart of Project Restart, I gleaned the following little tidbits...

- They rate the chance of it happening as 50/50 (so no sitting on the fence, then)

- The FA are very keen (i.e. desperate) for the FA Cup to finish as it is currently their only source of income, having already lost the many, many, many millions from Euro 2020

Nothing too surprising there. The most interesting point however was this...

Using all of the GPS player data they have ascertained that, on average, players are in close contact with other players for . . . wait for it . . . just NINETY seconds per match. Personally I find that ‘surprising’ (just thinking about all the time at corners where everyone is packed into the box and tussling for position (there are an average of 11 corners per game)) but that doesn’t mean it’s not true. If that’s what the data says, then that’s what the data says.

So they see the biggest issue as being not what goes on during the 90 minutes on the pitch, but what happens before and after the games. In other words in the changing room. That’s where it’s hard/impossible to socially distance.

So, to minimise/eradicate the time spent in that environment, I wouldn’t be surprised if players were told to arrive at the ground (in their own cars) already changed into full kit.

And obviously they could all just leave straight afterwards, jump into the car in muddy kit (ooh, all that mud, sweat and tears over their white, hand-stitched, Napa leather interiors), and change when they got home. But what about all that post-match sports science physio stuff like ice baths?

And how are they going to do team talks? Everyone on a pre match Zoom call on their phones in their cars in the car park?

And the pre-match huddle? It’d have to be in a circle 7m across to maintain 2m social distancing (I knew that c=2(Pi)r formula we learnt at school would come in useful once in my lifetime).

And they’d surely have to emerge from the tunnel one at a time rather than en masse.

And the ‘bench’ wouldn’t be sat on the bench (dug out), they’d be sat in the stands with a seat or three between everyone.

And everyone would have to have their own “technical area”.

What else could they do pre and post match to help get this on?

Also, on a separate point, regarding how to stop fans congregating round grounds during BCD matches. Couldn’t the police caution anyone stupid, selfish and reckless enough to do it, get their names and addresses, feed the details back to the clubs, who then issue banning orders? I’d have thought it highly likely that anyone keen enough to want to go to the ground to NOT watch a match would probably have a season ticket, so to lose the ability to actually watch a match when they resume properly might be an effective deterrent. Or worse, and more drastically and controversially, strip them of all their loyalty points. That’ll stop it dead.

I think the fact that elsewhere in Europe clubs are playing at their allotted ground might sway the neutral ground arguement away again like if they can do it why cant the PL?

Probably the same reason that in Spain, when they were in Lockdown, they were IN lockdown. Our little island is fucking stupid.

Harry Kane after their 3-0 defeat to the blades...

"We were doing fine until Chris Basham sneezed. Our focus wasn't on football after that, it was on our health and safety."

Interesting. I guess they'd still get some advertising money for the games but how much would that amount to for them? No chance of a cut from gate receipts as there obviously won't be any.

Sad as it may be considering we are in a decent position, I think we can forget about the FA Cup. The league must take precedent and cramming another 7-11 games into the timeframe (if they stick with QF's being replayed in event of a draw) will seriously hamper those still participating in the competition.
