Project Restart - Hoping for 8th June

Brescia Chairman, the infamous Massimo Cellino has said that if the Italian league resumes, he will forfeit all Brescia's games. You'd think that is quite the stance for a club to make. Then you see the league table:

That's just typical Cellino - "we could have stayed up but i refused to play on safety grounds". His club are down anyway. It doesn't matter if they play out their games or not he might as well give them an early break for the new season.

I’d rather the Prem positions remain the same than play behind closed doors on neutral grounds!
Regarding relegation and promotion then that’s really tricky, but as long as Leeds don’t get promoted I don’t really give a toss!
It’s been a wonderful first season back where we belong, outstanding, phenomenal loads of great memories!

But, if they don't play games, there won't be any revenue. The longer that goes on, the more chance a Club goes bust.

No seriously they did say that ,nothing official but I guess they would lose any bargaining position
 
In the current circumstances, relegation could look like a death sentence to the teams at the bottom of the table. With their wage bills, being in the Championship with no match day revenue likely for the foreseeable future and only parachute payments coming in...ugly. I'm not surprised they're making every argument in the book to avoid it. I wouldn't fancy it for us and being totally honest I'd probably do the same if we were in their situation.

I'd be more for a new "keep the lights on" stop gap competition than just trying to play on as normal once this season is ticked off.

And the clubs need to know what these options are and in which order they will be voted on in turn until one option gets accepted. Probably only need 2 options.

That's exactly what parachute payments is for, to make sure relegated clubs don't blow up due to PL overheads. Of course what has been happening is relegated clubs have been gambling with the money to go back up, it's their choice.

Yeah, but it's parachute payments in the context of the loss of match day revenue now. It's even more of a financial hit than it would normall be. Even more than that, it's being plunged into the EFL at a time of massive crisis for the lower leagues of English football. If it was us I'd fight tooth and nail to keep us out of that mess.

I have to say - one option (that won't be considered) is a simple Lockdown League. Set up a Just For TV Tournament. Play it Behind Closed Doors. On whatever Grounds you can make it work. Set the fixtures & rules up, so you can end it at any time, with rules about calculating finishing positions. Furlough the Premier League. Keep the lights on with this new non-jeopardy cup. Obvs TV rights won't be as lucrative for this processional tournament (see....). But, it'll have got all the celebrity players from all the telegenic teams. And Sky have to fill their schedule somehow. So, it will bring in some much needed revenue. And you can restart the 2019-20 PL, in front of crowds, in normal circumstances, once we are in a much, much better position as a society.
 
How about deciding every game on penalties? It could all be done and dusted in a single day, with only two players on the pitch at any one time.

Everyone accepts pens are a lottery, but we are happy to use them to settle play offs, FA and League Cup ties and European ties.

Seeing as how players will likely have to stay in hotels for the duration of any competition a normal season feels like something that would get broken up anyway.

So will Italy and so will Spain. Time to offer immediate relegation for the bottom six. I am sure that even if we were offered a champions league position, the club, management and players would say no and just want to play out the remaining fixtures because this club does not bottle anything, unlike the current bottom six in this division.

Am I missing something? If you immediately relegate the bottom six, then they're relegated. So, how do you play the rest of the 2019/20 season if relegation is already decided? And, if you can't play 2019/20 games, revenue dries up & you can't pay players & buy McCabe out. How does offering immediate relegation to the bottom six help?

Thought we won the war, kept a stiff upper lip, were made of sterner stuff, fought to the bitter end........Brighton, West Ham etc.....are fuckin spineless twats(in my opinion) 🤭

It's not new. They finished 3rdlast season and are in the Quarter Final of this season's CL.

I saw them earlier in the season against one of the English clubs. They have a VERY similar style of play to us.
