and you all said McCabe was mad building a hotel at the ground, come to think of it so did I.

Let's hope the whole thing is null and voided.

Even Wilder is banging on about the 'Integrity", of the league the reason we need to conclude the season.
Who is he trying to kid?, it's money pure and simple, and it's disappointing he is towing the managers line instead of being honest.

What are you on about?
The only line that CW toes is his own.
There's no point worrying about next season if we can't finish the current one. Let's get this season finished asap in as safe a manner as possible. The next season can then be delayed or even scrapped for 12 months if required.

So true and it sorts all the issues out.

It's got to the point now where even if the season is finished nobody will take it seriously or regard it as being legitimate.

It'll be, "Yeah team X finished in X position but it wasn't a proper season".

Too much time has passed and teams aren't the same as they were 2 months ago. Plus, the games that are played behind closed doors will all be skewed with no fan influence.

It's altogether an impossible situation.

It’s the prime minister saying it could happen, so I’d say there is a fair chance.

I admire your hope and I hope so too but my hope levels have dropped significantly in the past couple of weeks. I just can't see it when you have top players like Aguero saying players don't feel safe etc.

I’m presumably not the only one on here that’s heard the message in this article from the Bristol Rovers PFA rep. It didn’t sound particularly optimistic at all on the seasons being finished – and I was surprised by it given the more positive suggestions of late of the restart. Perhaps he was only talking in relation to EFL. Promotions would go ahead without relegation (to be resolved with the numbers relegated and promoted at the end of the following season).

I’m not saying I know what will happen or that I’m burying my head into the sand, I’m just passing on a report that the Portuguese Prime Minister has said football could return there from the 30th May.

The further down the leagues you go, the less likely it is that the season will resume in my opinion.

The Premier League has the money to pay for whatever is required to complete the season and also stands to lose the lost money if football doesn’t return. So I believe the Prem will happen, but who knows when. The Championship is a 50/50 chance and below that, next to no chance.

In the lower leagues it is somewhat helped by Bury having gone bust so they can shuffle teams up without having ridiculous oversized divisions

EFL can fuck off peasants

I think it has a 50% chance if the government extend lockdown

Reports saying lockdown is in place until we have around 1000 new cases a day.

Currently at 6k.

But even then social distancing is in place which really looks broadly the same as lockdown anyway.

I'm willing to wait as long as possible for it to be safe. Not at all bothered if that's June or September or even next year. Money talks though.

Report in The Times this morning stating one of the measures being considered by the powers that be is playing the whole of next season behind closed doors.

Without a major cash injection from somewhere I just don't see this as a starter as most teams below The Prem and some of The Championship just wouldn't be able to survive without matchday income.

The other problem is that if Premier League clubs aren't receiving any match day revenue, they won't go under but it's a huge dent to their yearly income. So that's bound to have a knock on effect on transfer fees. A Championship striker might only cost £5-10m, whereas last summer we paid £20m for McBurnie. The option of a club selling a star player to help cover running costs might not be possible.

Andy Holt (Accrington Chairman) has been saying for weeks that behind closed doors games are a non starter for them given the current set-up. Loss of matchday income (whilst still incurring the majority of costs) simply doesn`t work.

And before anyone mentions iFollow, the current distribution model for that is that the "selling" team get all (or most of) the revenue, not the home team. For it to be a go-er they'd need to change that.

In that scenario it’s the poor agents I feel for.

If that happens then football will change forever in England and will probably end up with 2 professional leagues.

From everything the scientists say social distancing is ruling out mass gatherings until a vaccine or drugs make it safer. Doesn't sound like even the most positive reports think any mass vaccines this calendar year.
