35. Glentoran vs Linfield .... REALLY???

i can see that because it has alot of similarity to the old firm, they are the big 2 teams in northern Ireland. always competing for titles & i believe religion is involved

They're both protestant teams

The "religious" game if you like is Linfield v Cliftonville. Glentoran are effectively are Protestant Club but without the baggage of Linfield.

Let's face it, the Sheffield derby just isn't a big game anymore.

A top 7 Premier League club against a lower mid table Championship team is too much of a mismatch for anyone to care.
😂 see what you did their😂

A list of fifty, set to one per page. That's some quality clickbait, I'm sure, but I'm not playing.

High Green Villa v Hoyland Town Jags should be on there.

Call that rivalry ?

What about Darnall Wesley v Lopham Street Meths in the Bible Class League ? ( For younger viewers , I kid you not )
:)

To me a “derby” is between two sides that play in the same city or town. I get pissed off when we play another Yorkshire side and the local wireless and rags call it a derby. Us against Leeds, or Donny, Rotherham, Grimsby (fucking Grimsby!) and the like aren’t derbies.

Our derby is against Wednesday. How the fuck this article can call Real Madrid v Barcelona a derby of any kind is beyond me.

If you’re a one club town/city then you've not got a derby match. You may have a long standing bitter rivalry with another club, but it isn’t and never will be a derby game. Tough titty and all that, but if they aren’t your “next door neighbours” then they aren’t a derby rival.

More piss-poor “journalism” from some berk who’d be better spending lockdown exploring the other delights the internet can offer.

In Germany they call Hamburg vs Bremen a derby.

Agree 100% there is no such thing as a Yorkshire derby, unless it means Blades v pig.

Nothing to do with where we're ranked, this is just idle "journalism " hashed together without much (any?) thought or knowledge. The one that actually struck me as hilarious is the PSG v Marseille one. Paris, last time I looked, is very much in northern France, about 90 minutes from the Channel. Marseille is on the Mediterranean. It's like saying that Plymouth Argyle v Newcastle is a derby. Utter bollocks.

Bert has been to a Marseille v PSG game, it's no derby but it's certainly a grudge match.

Guy I know who supports Gas says that Sheffield Derby's are tame in passion and hatred compared to Bristol. Wonder how many derbies the prat who's written it has been to.

I work in Bristol and the Bristol rivalry is virtually non-existent. About 5% of the city support City, about 5% support Rovers, and the balance support one of Liverpool, Man Utd or Arsenal.

Ha ha I worked in Bristol for a couple of years and I must say I prefer the Gas ...goodnight Irelene or summert like that! lol

50. Sheffield Derby
49. Two clubs you’ve never heard of from Bolivia

yep, I’m out.
That's what I thought, and that's where I stopped.

Interesting thing about that Bolivian derby though is that both teams share the same ground - it holds 38,000. One team plays in green, the other in blue. I wonder what colour they painted the ground?🤔

Depends how you define “derby”, I guess, but Chesterfield vs Mansfield and Blackburn vs Burnley have been pretty tasty in the past.

Yep, Chezzie v Mansfield. That's a nasty occasion. Where coal miner meets coal miner. Strong in the arm and weak in the head - and inbred too. Very tasty. A bit like the opening scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

What about Staveley Miner's Welfare v Penistone Church? 🤔

(Oh I do miss "Jeff" on Football Heaven!)

The two Munich clubs have shared a stadium for most of their existances. When the two clubs joined together to build their shiny new stadium outside Munich, it was built with a translucent shell which can be lit up in blue or red, depending on who was playing. Because 1860 are too crap, they sold their share in it and moved back to their original ground, which, I believe, they now share with Bayern's women's team.

Brook School v Beaver Hill School 197.....? This was missed out.

I'm sorry but trying to classify the biggest derbies in any order is ridiculous, half the clubs I have never heard of & know nothing about them.

What next? Which club has had the most players with a beard in one team? Or, Which club has got the most toilets in its ground? Very exciting!

MTLBWY

I've seen that. You pass it on the way from the airport to the city. I didn't realise 1860 had moved back to their old ground though, so presumably it only lights up red now? Sheffield's going the same way - won't be long now until the city is only red.

Derbies

United Vs Wensdeh

Man City Vs ManU

Brizzle City Vs Rovers

Lpool Vs Everton

Villa Vs Birmingham City

Notts County Vs Forest

mulling over Spurs Vs the Arse 🤔

The rest, and Sky can fuck off

Couldn't really care less what people outside of Sheffield think about our Derby's .hope it gets to a stage where people don't even know we share the city with another football club or even better that we no longer have to

The Bristol derby doesn't get the coverage that it deserves tbf. There's a strong rivalry there and Bristol really should have a team in the PL, although I'd prefer that to be the Gas over City, but that's not likely.
