Never. The new world order will see to that (I heard Chansiri and McCabe are on the board)

Hate to say it on a football forum but I honestly could not give a flying fuck about the football season right now, with several family members in the at risk category (most of whom are younger than me).

Even if it comes back behind closed doors on TV it gives some joy while being confined to self isolation and constantly worrying.

Yeah I can see that but in the grand scheme of things I'd rather money and energy and effort was directed at other things right now

The problem is, without other things to occupy our minds it just becomes coronavirus 24/7.

It’s still early days, so give it another month or two and people will be suffering mentally without any sort of normality in life.

Yeah I know what you mean. But the priorities still lie in keeping people alive rather than getting sport back up and running to stop people going loopy from boredom and anxiety. #manup

True but as Yes Blade correctly points out the country will need lifting and football is the biggest sport in the country. At the moment it is non stop coronavirus news.

Don’t forget if this rumbles on much longer there will be barely any football clubs left to go back to.

Yep, it's a right old drag innit?

yeah it is when I have family who are high risk and they wouldn’t mind watching some sport than worrying 24/7 confined to their home.

no need to put footballers and their families at risk, plus all the others who'd need to be mobilised, just to make these events happen for your benefit. Plenty of other stuff your family could watch.

If the Premier League and the EFL can make it happen and the clubs can then why not?

I am sure they will make sure everyone is safe before they do anything.

Staggered that 78% think this will be solved in 6 months!!!
Buying into the MSM BS.
Sorry but we are still in the BBC 'try not to alarm the people' phase as to what is actually coming down the line.

Long time before the Vaccines will be playing in the Leadmill.
Trying to avoid the Cremorne.

Actually all the best to you and yours, in same boat here. Can't agree with the way you are prioritising but I did overreact. No doubt will be getting banned now. Stay safe everybody. UTB

Man up? Really? So all those mental health campaigns over the last year or so were a complete waste of time. All you need to do is tell people to man up?

I wasn’t prioritising but I just think if it can return in some capacity in the near future it wouldn’t be a bad thing if done safely.

Anyway all the best to you and the family. Stay safe and hopefully we can get things back to normal soon.

We can already test for the virus, so we can ensure that anyone entering a given place doesn't have it. That would allow training and behind-closed-doors games to go ahead. Presumably you could allow spectators in too if they haven't got it. The issue would be getting to and from the games, but I reckon they will at some point allow more freedom to people who have been tested

I’m staggered that 22% think it won’t.

To be honest I am surprised that it's that low....I have said it before I will be very surprised if we see any football before Sept-Oct and that's ambitious and behind closed doors. The experts have said social distancing could last 18 months. Football is not important n the grand scheme of things.

It would not shock me if we don't see Football until Aug 2022. That might bewilder some but I think until a vaccine is found and the World take a a grip of it which is a long way away then non essential stuff just won't happen...especially if large gatherings mean it could see further spikes.

I am not quite sure why some people think this is all going to be over in 2-3 months?

This lockdown will last until at least June-July. Then even if they relax things...the 2nd wave next Autumn will mean I feel there will be another similiar 3-4 month lockdown at around Oct-Feb.

Until there is a vaccine....Football with fans is not going to be played. Indeed even behind closed doors this is fantasy stuff suggesting we can play games every week.

At best they could get some closed door stuff in around Aug but then it would have to finish as soon as one player or official got it. Look at what happened with Hudson Odoi and Arteta. One person and the lot is suspended again so how we would be able to run proper competitions every week....well they can't.

Just my opinion but one based on what the experts are saying.

As for the current season finishing...it is not going to happen. I think it should finish by the way even if 12-18 months down the line but the practicalities will mean it won't happen. Player contracts/sponsorship etc will all finish the end of June.

It is going to be tough on Liverpool, ,Leicester, us and Leeds/West Brom etc and sure a few lawsuits will come in but it will happen. I would not be shocked if they have a totally inconsistent approach as has been rumoured and give Liverpool the league and promote those top 2 and have this 22 team league. Nothing would surprise me. The non leagues and lower leagues no that clubs csnt afford lawsuits so they will appease the richest at the top of the tree. How they could give teams the league or promotion but not let the others finish would be totally unethical but you watch.

They'll keep delaying it every month to around July/August then they will just cancel it as they will see there is no prospect of any football for a long time and then come up with some half bakedplan like above.

The focus will shift to a normal 2021/22 season.

Really hope I am wrong but as I say regardless of what happens behind closed doors we are not going to set foot inside a football ground for a very, very long time. I think a year minimum.

I can see them cancelling all European competitions next season, after we (based on current standings) qualify for Europe for the first time in our history

It would be horrific if that actually happened.

Players like Billy Sharp and Cristiano Ronaldo have already played their last ever matches.

Agreed and Billy will never have scored in the Premier League.

I am seeing lots more stuff about this season being cancelled. I think.it would be disastrous for the credibility of the game but if this thing goes say 12 months then there is no way they would restart this season in say a year.

I have a horrible feeling in a few weeks when they meet they will just void it all and then football literally just switches off until this is over. The leagues would only next meet when we are somewhere near being out of it...which could be over a year....to discuss plans for 2021-22

There won't be a season next year I feel. If there is it will use the teams that qualified the previous year...Spurs etc.
