Any blades remeber this?

Don’t post if you don’t know and you do know what that fucking white fist is for ???
Something a long way a way from soul and ( cough) keeping the faith
Sure the bloke with Garland Green’s stunning UNI album as his profile will agree

Unbelievably, I have rediscovered this song in the last month and have been playing it regularly. What a great tune!

Spotify is just brilliant for rediscovering music - Donnie Elbert has to be one of the greatest singers of all time!

Thanks for sharing TTC & don't listen to 'em.....all Blades aren't we !!!

Blackpool Mecca.?

Deffo not. I think it’s one of the many recent scenes recorded by the “Learn Northern dancing” set ups. Basically formulaic steps like sheep, as opposed to the individuality at real events. Loads on YouTube which are nothing like Wigan in the seventies.

I could be wrong but events where there are younger people, say Bilbao, Hamburg, Tuff Love etc, no one dances like that.

Thread further sullied with lamentable ' all Blades aren't we' tripe.

Bunch of show offs.

This clip is from the video to the song called "Familiar Feeling" by female singer Moloko, she's the one in white. Paddy Constantine is also in the video. It's a modern day take on the northern scene back in the day. Loads of northern tracks on YouTube have been set to this video or clips from it have. There's only a limited amount of real footage from the Casino.
Here's bit about the track & video

As a modern day take it’s so far wide of the mark. As anyone who was there can attest too. Synchronized fluff, when years ago dancing was individualistic, as original footage shows. A bit more frantic as well :)

I was a regular on the Northern Scene early 70s these revivals are a joke a load of old codgers and some sad youngsters trying to relive it.
Still play some of the sounds occasionally

To be fair the majority of the younger element these days aren’t revivalists dancing like that. Nor are they listening to the top 500 oldies - although some get a spot in playlists - they dig out newer or different stuff and are as fanatical as ever. The Europeans are well into it and their playlists make a refreshing change, where you can hear stuff you’ve never heard before.

First place I ever went was the Highland Room, 1973, then a regular at the obvious places the following year.

A pain I know, but don't you mean Paddy Considine??!! Great actor for sure, but as for the 'Constantine' geezer, maybe a middle class fifth columnist learning how to follow working class pursuits.

Bit like line dancing as one of my original casino mates says 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've nothing against people of my age (mid 60's) enjoying Northern Soul today and re-visiting their past but one of the most cringeworthy spectacles is to see a clip of them on You Tube.

Just enjoy the moment without the need to show the world.
