football doesn't really matter, does it? Let's be honest, when it's life or death for lots of people, then 22 blokes kicking a ball around means fuck all.

But.

IF (and it's a big IF at the moment) this season is written off, it will be heartbreaking for a lot of us. This season has been beyond everything that a lot of us ever dared to dream of. The Blades, upsetting all predictions, defying the pundits, challenging for Europe with 10 games to go. This is what we all hoped for, what we all dreamed of but never dared to admit we thought was possible. It is breaking my heart that all the hard work, all the misery we endured, all the elation of the promotions, could come to nothing.

Only in S2 :(

It wouldn’t come to nothing though. We would potentially miss out in Europe and I’d be devastated, but we could miss out anyway.

Whatever happens we’ll be in the Prem next season so it’s not come to nothing. Try be positive.

(Also there’s no way the season will be cancelled now Euro 2020 is postponed).

I am over it already, got a fantastic team , got a fantastic manager , got a fantastic back room staff , we go again !
I am a Blade , always have been , always will be⚔
Just have to go full pelt on front foot next season lads, it's the CWAK way, Liverpool are on a dip, let's win prem.😊

At the start, I said that I’d enjoy this season no matter what, and that is still true. We’ve had some amazing memories made. No way is that for nothing.

I’ll stick my neck on the line here but IMO there is absolutely now way this season doesn’t get finished, however long it takes.

There are just far too many potential legal challenges if the season, 75% complete, isn’t finished in full.

The next season is a completely different matter though but as long as everyone is starting on an even keel and in the correct league they should be then the legal challenges are null and void. It may need financial support potentially further down the chain if there is say a reduced season but there’s enough money in the game to support this.

Imo, they HAVE to finish this season properly, IF they can.
If they can't, then they have to void it. No promotions, no relegations, no giving Liverpool the title because they 'probably would have won it'.
They get rewarded while others like yourselves who had a very good chance of qualifying for Europe, get fuck all? Not on.

It won’t happen that way though. The season will be concluded, somehow. We still might not finish in a European spot but nothing can take away from what we’ve achieved this season against all the odds. Most of all, I think we’ve won a lot of admirers along the way from fans of all clubs and neutrals. And we’ve set ourselves up nicely for whatever comes next. A fantastic season that will live long in the memory of many. All credit to everyone involved with the club.

Not sure just voiding the season is an option for all the reasons I stated above.

Who would play in Europe? Would you base it on the previous seasons positions as agin that would no doubt lead to legal action as Arsenal would be in Europe but as it stands they wouldn’t be.

I agree that voiding it, would be very problematic. It's why it's not my first option.
If they have to void the season, no CL or Europa played next season, as no one had actually qualified for it.

Hammer don't you worry about European football, Brookings long retired, mate.

Spot on!

They can’t just void the season. Well, they can I suppose, but why would they? It would make the competition lose credibility in the future. And there’s no need to. And I totally agree you can’t “award” things to teams that haven’t actually qualified for them. Even Liverpool, who have been absolutely superb this season and look certainties to win the title, shouldn’t be awarded it until it’s mathematically certain.

Let's see how unimportant people are saying football (and sport) is after a few more months of this shite - if that happens.

Football & sport in general, is a great, social, stress reliever for many, many people.
We'll just have to get by though.
However, if they turn the internet or the telly off, I'm getting a gun...

Makes it all the more important to enjoy the games themselves- live in the moment. They can’t take that away from you.

It also provides a great deal of structure and purpose. And edge. Take away 'things like' sport then what does life become? It becomes something quite ridiculous and far less meaningful.

Football is important. If someone said to me that football would cease to exist unless I killed a random bloke, I'd probably do it.

If someone said to me that football would cease to exist unless I killled fifty people of my choice, I'd definitely do it.

What point would voiding this season be
There's only 8 games left 9 for 4 clubs
Why start a new season when you can be finishing off those 8 games
. It matters not one jot when next se league eàson starts. If its possible to play in august you could play those 8 in 4 weeks and compress fixtures next season. Eased by scrapping the caribou cup and the. Chock a block trophy

Bbc sport tonight
The Premier League is expected to reiterate its commitment to completing the season in Thursday's emergency board meeting held via conference call.

All games have been postponed until at least 4 April because of coronavirus.

But with the pandemic set to continue much longer than that, the league is expected to acknowledge there will be no action for several weeks after that.

The postponement of Euro 2020 has opened up a window for domestic leagues to be completed by the end of June.

Totally agree, if it takes until December to finish just fucking do it. What is the point in saying ok 29 games played but rather than do the final 9 we're going to start again in August because that's how it's always worked.

I can't see how it won't get finished ... read somewhere (think it was Rooney) that the next world cup is on a winter cycle anyway so why not just finish it off later in the year and move on to that cycle until the world cup .... even if it does get canned the season isn't a waste imho, it will have further instilled the belief in the lads that there's very little to fear in this league outside the top 2 and even then we can still give them a game, its been a great platform to build on for when the next season does eventually start
