Oh my god, can we all chill until the actual announcement - I can’t cope !!
If none of us or Newcastle have symptoms then let’s play ball.....

I think if a few games are off because of coronavirus then you have to call them all off. It makes sense to have the teams as close as possible in terms of games played in case they have to cancel the whole season and decide things like European places.

Play behind closed doors on the basis everyone at the clubs involved do prior checks on all staff before anymore games are played.

What I don't like about this is that Spurs have been proper fucked by injuries this season. They're having a shit one and deserve to end up with no European football. Likewise win our game in hand and Man U can jog on for the CL spots. As it is, Spurs will have Kane and Son and Berwijn back which all should have meant tough shit for building your squad poorly yet they'll get a boost for the run in. And Man U will get Rashford back. And Chelsea will get Abraham back.

Talk about football Gods favouring the big shithouses eh?

It kind of scuppers Wednesday's delaying tactics though, three weeks being added to the season.

You do realise you can have it for weeks till the symptoms start showing, anyone could be spreading it without knowing, it's just a game of football, currently it's irrelevant

Why hasn't the Cheltenham festival been cancelled this morning? It's only horse racing!

The plan isn’t to stop it....the plan is to slow it down...stagger it.
Its a flu and millions will catch it......flu can be a killer for the elderly who are already in poor health.

Anyone fit enough to go to horse racing or attend a football match is strong enough to survive flu
however if those people visit poorly elderly relatives....then it could lead to fatalities before their time.

yes I realise the incubation period is 2 week - but mass gatherings are still happening, in the news reporting, Cheltenham, the darts - look at all the PSG fans outside the stadium.
This virus will run is course, and I am concerned about the health of our nation but I don’t believe we have to completely shut down the county

It's not just the UK though, everywhere is following suit, and I'm sure based on the recommendation of experts, why risk football matches, if 1 person died as a result of picking it up in a ground, it is 1 person too many, in my opinion of course, and you are entitled to yours just the same 😉

I have a flu jad every year but this year at Christmas I had these exact symptoms and now i'm thinking thats maybe what it was.
It's come from a communist country who would have initially kept it quiet until that doctor broke the story so who knows how long this has been going on.

Well I’m thinking now they’re saying it’s going to resume on the 4th April, how do they know that it’s not going to be worse by then ? They need to just say pending really.
& lol, yes I agree with your opinion it would be 1 too many of course. Listen I only had an issue with the guy throwing out words like super dumb and selfish...

They said suspended till 4th April, then it will be reviewed I'm afraid I think that could be pretty much it for the year

That's the opposite of what we want, if schools shut down then child care will sky rocket, how many NHS workers have kids who would need to sort out child care? If they can't afford it or won't pay for it then that means less NHS staff to helps those who a really in need.

Kids a good carriers of flu and are also great at fighting it but are also super spreaders, keeping them at school is best, away from any family who may come to visit who'll then pass it on and so on..

If everyone sticks to the rules of washing hands more often for longer periods of time before eating, after coughing/sneezing/touching doors etc.. as well as self-isolating if any symptoms start to show then we'll be in a much better position as a nation. These simple steps need to be drilled in to some people unfortunately. Some people have the "won't happen to me" mentality.

Anyway, I digress.

Breaking News:

All elite football in England has been suspended until at least 3 April as a result of the spread of coronavirus.
All Premier League games, EFL fixtures and matches in the FA Women's Super League and Women's Championship have been postponed.

Simon Jordan has just been on Talksport expressing his concerns about sensationalist media reporting, miss information and scare mongerimg.

He said the medical experts have already said stopping football will have little effect on controlling the spread...the spread is a happening regardless.
He also said the reports in the paper are “Arteta has the virus”, but the chances of a healthy 39 year dying from flu is ZERO.

Jordan said he was uncomfortable how the PL were bowing to media pressure instead of using expert medical opinion.
However he acknowledged that media pressure/ public opinion is very powerful....so they now have no choice to close down the league
but it is an example of how the media can manipulate the truth and control the country.

We rank 18th in healthcare. Italy are ranked 2nd.

Health Care rankings encompass pretty much everything from Hip Replacements and dentistry to emergency care. It's a pointless gauge.

Britain has some of the worlds leading epidemiologists, let's listen to them. Just like the government seems to be.

This. Not a single chance. I'd say no football until August at least.

If they need to end the season now, give us, Villa, Man City and Arsenal a point each. I'd take Europa happily.
So many scenarios and lots of teams will inevitably lose out as a result some way or another.

A Europa League spot would do me just fine though!

I don't see a problem here. A 6 week hiatus, followed by 2 matches per week, ends the season at the end of May.

This is only 4 weeks later than planned. So we might have a shorter than usual preseason. Who cares, start next season a couple of weeks later if need be. Kill the Nations League and/or Carabao Cup for a season. Koack that shitty winter break that nobody wanted on the head.

Simon Jordan is a know-nothing perma-tanned bell-whiff.

I think I tend to agree with him, it’s going to spread regardless.

Yes it is. And putting aside the discussion about the approach of our government vs rest of the world, the strain on the NHS etc etc, this decision isn't about the spreading of it within the general population.

How can the season go on unhindered when full squads are going into isolation? You'd see some clubs on 43 games and some still on 39 before the the virus even peaked. It's untenable.

Its not about whether Arteta dies from it or not thought is it?

True but he often speaks a lot of sense.....just tells it how it is.

Tells it how it is? What on earth does that mean?

Experts on pandemics, economics and impact on society "tell it how it is". This is akin to Farage going on the BBC the other night and giving his view on CV. They don't have the faintest clue on the best course forward.

And again, how does the season go on when players are going to be dropping with the virus left, right and centre as it works its way further into the UK.
