As we are trying to delay the spread we are going to have a period of several months where a significant number of players have the virus and games can’t be played.

How about this for a left-field idea? As players are all fit young men they will recover from this fine. So we stop football for 4 weeks, put all players together in an isolation camp and inject them with the virus. In 4 weeks time they are all immune and football resumes after a short break. The government may then insist on behind closed doors etc, but at least the season could be done by the end of May!

This could never happen, but it would work!

I suppose they could end the season now and work out the final standings on points per game which would have us finishing in 6th place, not really fair on some I suppose. The season will have to be played out no matter how long it takes, looks like the quarter final game will end up being under the lights at the Lane but who knows when. I knew this season was too good to be true and something special would come along to fuck it up, but at least it is not a world war this time.

They should play out the rearranged fixtures so everyone is on an even number of games and end the season with its current standings. I find it odd that the Government have adopted a delay policy and haven’t yet banned mass gatherings.

the reason being you can’t give it to a stadium but only people within 2sqm of you. How many seats in 2sqm? 20?wouldn't surprise me if deep down the policy was to accelerate infection thus recovery and as a result productivity

There is a good chance that 10's of thousands (in the UK) have already had it and not known about it. Covid-19 could have been around for months before it was actually identified. It is also possible that it could of been mistaken for season flu for a time - IMO of course and I am no expert by any means

Just had someone on Sky saying that this game could potentially still go ahead as Arteta last had contact with the team on Tuesday. Players will isolate for a week and if none shows symptoms or tests positive they could still field a full strength team, albeit without Arteta traveling.

If the Premier League and the EFL are suspending all games then what about all the amateur football also? Since it presumably is the threat to players that is being considered here as well as the supporters, otherwise surely behind closed games would be a likely solution, not that I want that either. Money is clearly playing a big factor here, as ever.

Are pubs in town closed tonight? Surely that's a bigger risk in a confined space that's the issue. Why are any places with confined spaces off, such as schools, libraries etc.open? It seems that sport is being ultra safe and other areas not. I don't get the difference.

Also, I've heard that 6/10 people in the country are required to contract Coronavirus to achieve immunity, so why is there an issue if we need people to contract it to achieve overall immunity? Obviously I get the risk to older and vulnerable people, but they'll be self isolating regardless I would have thought, although from an isolation perspective, that's far from ideal.
