Chrissy having a dig at United fans

He never did. He just said the fans should appreciate what the team is doing. We do so what's the problem?

Crowd was excellent all way through game, right up until whistle.
I then stormed out with a massive feel of frustration and disappointment.
Those around me were leaving in droves well before the whistle. One bloke had sat there all match, second minute of injury time and we get a corner, he gets up and walks out. Why bother coming at all if you can’t stop until the end and how many goals are scored in injury time that people miss.

He might have had the arse on as nobody sang "He's one of our own" today.

Seriously, it was a fully committed performance which only lacked that final touch. I didn't realise Osbourne had come on until 65 minutes which in a way is a compliment to the lad, but having to make that change restricted our options as the game went on.

Moose even warmed up, stripped off and was ready to come on at 60 mins only for Chris to change his mind and tell him to sit back down. Didsy then came on instead... Not sure what the thinking was.
It's ok, you don't need to wonder what the thinking was, there's someone rather fucking good doing the thinking at the moment. You can just sit there and enjoy one of the best teams in our history - have your eyes been shut for 3 years? Oh, there is one thing you can do - don't piss and moan so much on forums.

Newcastle all over again, you've got to score to bring them out or it's just one frustrating game. We did score but the jammy sods went and pulled it back strait away, if they hadn't would have been an very different game ..
No wonder Boss Wilder was not best pleased ……....

With our poor record scoring from corners I'm not surprised he thought we wouldn't from our 12th corner.

I'm in total agreement with him regarding the fans.
Couldn't see how many empty there were on the kop, but all other parts of the ground looked sparse in comparison to other games.
On the performance, i thought it was very good, maybe not outstanding.
Osborn was excellent when he came on.

Agree with all that. Osborn was an unexpected highlight of the day. Slotted in perfectly and played flowing football down the left hand side.

But did we really trouble their keeper apart from the goal? Can’t think of anything second half.
What? He made a couple of great blocks at the end, Fleck fires one just wide at the start of the second half and McBurnie misskicked one he should have buried. Apart from that probably not much.

Just listening to PoG on Radio Sheff after the Brighton game and Wilder obviously irked at some comments about United's performance today and especially called out fans not staying behind to clap the players off the pitch . He thought it was an outstanding performance and we never sat back and kept going for the win right until the end.

I disagree slightly. I don't think that it was a poor performance but it certainly wasn't outstanding in my eyes and we certainly did not continually go for the win. In fact, the initial setup of Olly and Billy up front and then the substitution of Didsy for Billy does not scream 'going for the win to me'. How on earth Moose wasn't played today baffled me. The game was crying out for a bit of pace and trickery up front as Brighton looked solid and organised in defence.

40 points is great and you can't win every game but I it looked like we were happy with a draw from 60 mins to be honest.
Happy with the draw ? It was basically attack vs defence for the second half ffs.

I get where he's coming from. I've been very surprised by the reaction of some people post game. McBurnie and Berge have been heavily criticised and I honestly can't understand how? I thought McBurnie was tremendous! He was kicked all day long and still linked up play well.

Brighton... The shower... Came with a non football plan and it paid off on this occasion.

I honestly believe that if we had managed a winner non of these negative comments would have surfaced.

I thought we were on the front foot nearly all game, great play outside their box, however the final ball, crosses, corners, free kicks was pretty poor. CW has to be annoyed we did all the hard work to get our noses in front then gave it away virtually straight away with that sloppy equaliser.

They had drawn 3 of their last 4 coming into today.
They stacked the back with 4 giants filled their 18 yard box with bodies.
Looks like the way that is the way they want to go about getting away from the relegation zone go for the point dive, hack and waste time.
They were fortunate and got away with another draw on another day we could have had 3 or 4 goals. The pounding rain didn't help, perhaps the reason why some left early.Picked up that 40th point and another season in the Prem.

I've got to say fair play to Wilder, he's totally justified in my view talking about the fans not staying to clap the players. I've noticed it several times this season and one match I actually had a go at the fans who were leaving on the full time whistle, which I probably shouldn't have. But I notice when we win, more stay - obviously - so for all those that say I've got to get off, it seems when we win for some unknown reason they have more time to get home when we draw. Take Man U at home this season: we'd played really well and the players deserve a clap in my view until they've turned towards the South Stand on the lap and yet fans were leaving in their droves on the full time whistle. It must look crap to the players to see a half full Kop to stay and clap and its something that our fans could do better on, although overall the support is very good in my view.

Seems like that's as close as Wilder will get to slagging the fans off.

I don't disagree with him. It's far more subdued than it should be considering the unprecedented heights we're reaching.

Even the back of the Kop feels corpsey. They need their half time pint and a bit of an incident to get animated.

But maybe more would stay to clap the team off if they didn't take 5 minutes to go back to the Kop.

And yes Mousset should have come on. The reason he didn't is we had started to pin them deep as soon as he was ready to come on. But in reality there is always opportunity for such pace, power and skill to make an impact. You won't find many slower defences in the league.

We dominated the game and with a bit more quality in the final third would have won comfortably. I think wilders assessment is spot on.

Mcgoldrick came on instead of Mousset because they were just sat back. With no space in behind to run into you need a player like Mcgoldrick to unlock a defence, not a speed demon. For example look at our league one season. We had no pacey players in the team at all and we didn't need any because we were never able to counter attack.Teams just sat back against us. What we did have was Mark Duffy.

For those saying we didn't "go for the win" because their keeper wasn't tested enough.... You do realise the opposition put 11 men on the pitch who don't just let us win just because we're trying to win right?

I thought the mcburnie toe poke was on its way in. There was also a few efforts from fleck from just outside the box where he could have maybe done better.

Like I said, on another day we could have won that comfortably. Certainly can't fault the players effort or performance and definitely can't disagree with Wilder on this one for me.

Wilder was irked by this as he came off.

He had a face like thunder and motioned to AK about the stands before shooting down the tunnel without acknowledging the South Stand like he normally would.

The players barely clapped the South Stand either.

He’s absolutely right.

Those fans clearing off is offensive to him and the players. They’ve grafted their nuts off all season, ran circles around a stubborn side who’ve come for a draw and sat back simply shit scared of us, hoping to catch us on the break by drawing more and more players into their half ready for the big clearance to fall for them.

I don’t give a flying whether you agree with his subs, starting line up, tactics or whatever those players have put it in. And half of why we are where we are is down to that bond through the club, ungrateful and over expectant fans will cause problems.

So, if you’re going to go, stay til the end and show your appreciation. Walking off looks to them like you think they can’t be arsed!

Tell you something else, that kind of effort from the fans makes the thought of increasing capacity unlikely as it will simply be full of more part timers who don’t really give a toss!!

I got the decision not to bring Mousset on. As others have said they were sat so deep his pace would have had little chance to be shown. Who knows if it would have made a difference or if he had come on the same people criticising him bringing McGoldrick on might have been saying “Didzy’s trickery might have found space and created something “ which actually he did for McBurnie’s chance.
As for the comments I think he’s trying to stop us going all big time with this Europe thing and managing expectations personally

Totally agree. I always stay to applaud the players off the pitch. I know some people probably have to catch a train or something but most could stay another 3 or 4 minutes to clap the team off. Yesterday, I suppose as may be we were frustrated we hadn’t won, the Kop was half empty and the kop end of south stand where I am was probably less than half full. Poor show from supporters when the players have given their all.

Exactly...however I don’t care if there’s a train to catch, bus...bollocks to that.
If I wanted that train or bus that badly I would just stay til they’ve finished and then run to the station if I couldn’t give a little bit extra time of my day to wait for the next train or bus.
Football first, if you’ve gone to the effort to get a ticket and travel there, a little bit more time devoted to the cause won’t hurt.
When I go, it’s a 90minute drive...parking is horrendous, and traffic after a ball ache. Always has been.
I simply say that’s the whole afternoon written off. I’m out til 7pm.

that substitution was frustrating... 60mins - mousset has his tracksuit off... 65mins - mousse is sat back down... 72 mins didzy get warmed up... comes on at around 75mins not too sure what was happening

Not 100%, but I think we were absolutely battering them. Nobody looked tired, and we had them pinned in. We had our two best finishers on upfront and so were reluctant to take them off.
