Nice to see another academy lad coming through and doing well. (Ian Ross)

With the facilities we have at the academy it's not going to be long before we are churning out some of Englands finest players....

Come on you Red & White Wizards!!!

Indeed... and the facilities are only going to help the first team as well.

I went up to watch them training at Millhouses and the changing rooms were a shed! Not the kind of facilities a Championship side should have.

The young lads are also doing well in the silverware stakes, I just hope they can continue their form until their big enough for the first team.

For sure, I live about 45 miles from Shef, when I'm down my mates live in Shirecliffe, regular drinker at the Timbertop..right next to the training ground!! You just have to look at that place and how it's chaged over the years to see how improved we are...

And hopefuly it ain't gonna stop.

Any regular Academy watchers seen any players coming through who could progress to first here or elsewhere?

I've heard there's a couple of really decent lads coming through.
Both call Kyle funnily enough.
The Naughton version is apparently the one to watch.
To be honest, I kinda like the look of Walker more, but what do I know.

Article today regards the bringing through of the academy lads.

The article talks about CW's desire for Cat 1 academy status

What I didn't know was, according to the article, not only are we to redevelop Shirecliffe, but we are to have a new site for the Academy in order to achieve Cat 1 status

"Currently blocked in by housing, they need to make room for a floodlit grass pitch, as well as an artificial playing surface. Furthermore, an indoor pitch, no smaller than 60 yards is required while a minimum of three classrooms are needed for a club to hold category 1 academy status.

It’s clear that huge investment is needed but with planning believed to be in their later stages, it may only be a matter of time before the Blades can begin to develop talent like Maguire and Walker again."
