If various English/UK cities were to host an international match at the current time and Sheffield was an option as has previously happened would Wednesday and Hillsborough get it or would it be us at BL now?

Safety certificate says no.

Think they're max is a couple of hundred more than ours now at the most.

That being the case, surely it'd be the modern one with PL standard broadcast stuff and media facilities.

Although both Sheffield stadiums are historic and old school with a potentially great atmosphere.
In this day and age compared to other stadia neither are good enough and need updating, especially Hillsboro.

Bramall Lane is decent but the facilities at the back of the Kop are like going back to the 80’s.
This day and age all concourse areas should be fairly spacious, warm and under cover protected from the wind and rain.

Would love us to modernise to an all seater 41-42K stadium as per McCabes plans with the improved bigger Kop and extra tier behind the South stand.
Once safe standing is introduced (which will happen) then I’m hoping clubs cam allow slightly more into the same areas......so if we change the back of the Kop into
safe standing then capacity would be over 45,000.....we could then give away fans both tiers of the BLUT....up to 6,000.
There would be some great atmospheres and it would improve Sheffields economy having so many visitors from outside the city on match day.
Can imagine the SY police panicking at the thought of Man Utd and Liverpool having up to 6K tickets.

We only have to give 10% or max 3000 to away fans. So probably just the upper tier of BL

I would say that Hillsborough would be better because these days it seems there's a lot more room for fans.

For euros or World Cup tournaments there has to be a larger distance behind the goal than is usual in British stadia. Wonder if that would be a consideration if/when the kop gets done? Can't see them insisting at Old Trafford or Annfield.

Bolt on front sections. First 5 rows are on castors and can be wheeled our of the ground and left in the car park under the "True Blades love Kev" sign.

The FA went with Hillsborough last time out of course and I can see that happening again if we go through the bidding process because for some reason they've always been seen as the preferred venue. But they'd need to prove, presumably, that they were committed to the financial outlay required to develop their stadium which would cost them probably in the region of £20-30m at a guess. I'm not so sure their chairman would want to spend that!

Mt Pleasant Park is a 5 minute walk down Woodhead Rd. It would be a great place for a fanzone with the 5 a side pitches, and a bar could be set up at the school. Plus, walkable from the city centre with plenty of pubs en-route.

Hillsborough does have the tram outside the ground, that's about it's only advantage. The Lane is easily walkable from the city centre, which has plenty of car parking. It's also only a ten minute walk from Granville Rd tram stop, and 15 mins from the train station. Media and corporate facilities are better, there is a hotel on site and there is a big car park for teams, officials and media. Also a great choice of restaurants and pubs on London Rd etc.

I hope that Sheffield never gets chosen as a host city for any major international competition because you could bet your life that the bastards at the City Council would chose Swillsborough and the tax payer would improve the rust bucket again - just like we did in 1966 and 1996. Fuck em!

They always say that Hillsborough Park sways it in their favour because of the fans zone. Why not be imaginative - we have Norfork Park within a 15/20 minute walk of BTDBL. It is a natural amphitheater - absolutely perfect for screening big events. It is also very close to the city centre and railway station. But no, ignore this and choose them cunts instead.

Last time the FA applied for a competition they had plenty of league 1 clubs looking to host, pigs, MK dons and someone like Plymouth.

I don’t get the fan zone thing. In Germany 2006 Nuremberg had the fan zone next to the stadium but Cologne and Frankfurt didn’t.

Large Fan zones are best kept away from the ground [other than the small ones for home fans . like Derby Wba etc ] less chance of Scouser types storming gates etc . anyway i dont think the sty will be used as a Soccer Ground in 10 years time it will be Defunct .
