Didn't know the guy, but feel that I do now. Obviously a top top man. RIP Blade y Mallorca.
 
Remember Billy and his many funny stories.
Blackpool in 90s he missed the match as he was getting on the Donkeys on the beach with his mates while having a few jars.
 
Work with billy for a while at firth Rixson’s true blade and a reyt laugh. RIP.
 

Knew Billy very well, unfortunately hadn't seen him for 5 years or so.

He used to visit Dore sports ground regularly when Alan Jeeves was the groundsman, good pals and knew him from there. Been to Edinburgh and Magaluf with him on football tours and played against a Mallorca XI alongside him, though he only lasted about 5 mins.

Mad as a box of frogs, game for anything and just a genuine decent bloke.

Big shame, RIP Billy Beer, never forgotten.

The lying bastard always told me he was an architect😄 Which he may well have been of course, but if you ever saw Billy you'd never have guessed....

Think he was in to greyhounds too? Thought I’d seen him on that greyhound programme RPGTV as an owner when a dog won at Owlerton.
 
Only met him once, like a comedy sketch... 18 or so years ago... It was in a bar in Barbados, a mate and me were on the piss day after our mates wedding over there. He was sat at the bar with three other blokes... got talking football to these three blokes all of whom didn’t know each other...
”I’m a Blade..”
“Nice one, me n all”
“Fuckin ell, I’m a Blade n all”
Last in line leans forward rather sheepishly and sez “I support Yeovil”
we all spat our beer out and laughed!! “Who the fuck are Yeovil?”

El Grande Billy, I met him at the Son Moix once, very sad news.
 
Billy funeral is at 2.00 on 19th February at Grenoside crematorium.
