CONFIRMED Sander Berge

As your resident Belgian, I've just logged on to the main KRC Genk forum (they were my local club before I moved to the UK) and I can confirm that they're wetting themselves just as much as we are about the whole Man Utd development-that-never-was 😅

Here's a selection of views from their side (sorry Roy, coming to this country, taking your jobs and all that...):

"If we want more than 20 mil for him, we'll have to sell him to a team in the Premier League. Italian or Spanish clubs aren't able/willing to put down that kind of money. Let him go to Sheffield, they're doing great in the league and he can showcase himself to the bigger clubs. It's better to play a top game every week in the Premier League than to stay and play a load of semi-professional games in Playoff 2*"
(*the second half of the Belgian season - don't even ask me to explain!)

"I don't think Sheff Utd are going to have any sleepless nights about a sell-on clause. They'll buy him for 20 and sell him for 60. The lad's on his way out - guaranteed!"

"What's the point of staying here from his perspective? If he goes to Sheffield, he can settle in for the rest of the season and become their key player next season."

"Sheffield, who'd have thought it. Though they are doing well at the moment."

"It's a perfectly logical move from his point of view. Personally, I thought he deserved better than Sheffield though..."

(Mentions of 'Sheffield' sans 'United' all poster's own 🙄)

There also seem to be a few people considering going to Genk's 14:30 training session today to see if Berge's actually still physically there. Cue another Twitstorm if it turns out he's not!

Honestly i would love a detailed analysis of how a transfer is sorted, because for me being naive it does seem as simple as throw a number out club selling throws a different number and you talk to each other till you reach a figure. Like how often do they talk? how do they talk? it fascinates me how many people must be involved in reaching an agreed figure between 2 clubs

Doesn’t work like....these days all sorts of creative deals are drawn up. Even the way its paid makes a massive difference.

An example of our offer might be 15 million basic offer
  • 1 million every time we stay up, avoiding relegation for the next 5 years, so that’s potentially another 5 million
  • 2 million if we reach the Europa cup + 5 million if we reach the Champions League
  • 15% of any profit we make when he’s sold.
  • 1 million for 100 appearances
  • and another 1 million after 200 appearances.
Also we agree to pay 10 million up front...the remainder paid over 5 years.

So potentially we could end up paying over 30 million for him but if we do we would be in a position to easily afford it.

An issue for any business is often “cash in bank”. So the big problem for United might be having to pay 10 million up front because we simply don’t have it. So we might offer to apportion it over 5 years but increase the sell on to 25% of any profit.

Berge might have ambitions to play for a top European club so his agent only allows him to come if we agree to be a “stepping stone” club. There might be clauses put in his contract that we can’t refuse a 70 million bid. I would expect we are doing something creative to make us attractive to such a hot prospect.

Don't worry guys... The blades have recruited the help of master negotiator Terry Tibbs to get this deal thrashed out.

Wrong Terry.

If it’s a fucking hopeless twat with Blades history master negotiator we need, there’s only one useless fat bastard Terry for the job:

Then there will no doubt be the thorny issue of a relegation clause and the agent fee.

That's because Verrips is playing. (Moore is actually a really nice guy btw who has just got engaged).

I'm sure he is and he certainly always comes across as such - unfortunately, that doesn't mean he's a Prem standard GK.

Like all of us i'm sure desperate for this to happen he looks class. I also love a Norwegian at the Lane. Thought I'd go down memory Lane now! When I were young, back in the early 90's I was used to an entire English eleven and Jock Bryson provided a bit of foreign flair!

Then all of a sudden we signed two Norwegians! Jostein Flo (pronounced "Flu" according to John Motson) and Roger Nilsen. I missed out on the likes of Len De Goey and Alex Sabella so this was totally new for me! If honest, I didn't think either was that great, although in hindsight I was harsh on Flo at the time.

I'm old enough to remember the names, but not old enough to have really appreciated them at the time. I definitely remember Dad buying me a Viking hat , and standing on the Kop and there just being a sea of 'em!

Will believe it when I see it but expect this to run to Friday.

lots of moving part on a transfer this size... not to mention the spectre of other clubs clearly lurking

If we do end up with Sandra then this could explain Lunny's drop in form. We would have sounded this deal out last month or even back to the last time we enquired. It may have always been on the cards but even more so since our recent interest.

A midfield 3 of...

Norwood - Berge

..........Fleck

😍 😍 😍
