what a week i have had. enjoyed afternoon at senior blades. the daughter tried to get us tickets for the manchester city match failled we spoke to tony currie. what a bloke went into the ticket office and got us 2 tickets(made a 84 year old man very happy) really enjoyed the match but not the score, but what a team they are. then last night went to see my great grandson 7 years old trainning at tinsley boys all in his united kit thats 4 generations of blades just the tonic i needed after the passing away of the wife. just the best week for a long time

Good to hear you were looked after, and Tony Currie isn't always the grumpy sod some people make out.

You only need to see the recent video of Currie on the official SUFC channel.
Its his personality....he does come across as dour and miserable.....but he can’t help it.

He says himself on the pitch he was an extrovert....the entertainer who loved the adulation.
Where as off the pitch...he‘s the opposite...quite shy naturally preferring his own company.
I met Currie in the 80‘s and expected him to be like he was on the pitch...was really shocked that he was so miserable and didn’t seem interested in chatting to me.

Many have said....he’s misunderstood....comes across as miserable when he’s not really....he’s just shy.
They used to say the same about Freddie Mercury....outrageous extrovert on the stage but pretty shy in private.

I am a young looking 60-year-old (well I think so anyway) and I have yet to experience the pleasure of a grandchild
But I have experience of a many years the up and down wonderfulness of being in the blade family
And I hope we all have many years left to enjoy that family

The Footballer can be a great old healer in times of need. It was for me and my old man when my mum passed away a few years back. It's the one thing that stops me wanting Wednesday to go out of business. They might be misguided but there's plenty of them poor old sods might need a crutch in life as well at some point.

My dad used to work at the Lane and I've met Tony Currie and he was always friendly. We do tend to get grumpier as we get older though!
