You mean like a hotel or other commercial properties?
I understand what you're getting at here, but those things are part of the current problems. Hence the need for change.

But in your original response you didn't outline anything that is any different to what we have now, except that we would then owe the debt to person/s with no emotional attachment to the club whatsoever.
Lets get one thing straight - we are not where we are financially because McCabe has attempted in any way to skank the club. It is because the asset price bubble burst, globally, largely due to rampant sub prime lending in the USA. The worst he can be accused of is that he didn't see it coming. Nor did I, and I would bet that nor did most on here.
We will not get the sort of "investment" that some people on here seem to want. We might get a takeover, it won't necessarily result in any additional investment in the team, and we will still have debt. We will also have an owner whose main rationale for the takeover is to make a return, by whatever means.
As I said above, be very careful what you wish for.

I don't think anyone other than McCabe is in a position to suggest what he has/hasn't done and what he was thinking during the course of his tenure. The problem is supporters like ourselves seem to think they know what all the causes and solutions are. The suggestion that any takeover would bring an individual better/worse than McCabe is pure speculation. You don't know that any potential new-comer will take over the debt. Again that is speculation;
Of course it is speculation, but speculation founded on evidence gleaned from elsewhere. Take a quick look around football in England and see the consequences for many clubs post-takeover in the last few seasons. Aside from Man City and maybe Villa, most have landed heavier debts than they had before the takeover and in many of those cases that wasn't down to the global economic down-turn. We are as likely to get shafted as any of these IMO
I too would prefer domestic ownership in an ideal world Broomhill; but who is around with the sort of clout United need? The only way forward in football now is foreign ownership. I don't see any british business men lining up so it leaves only one other option.
Personally I think everything is in place for whatever the board have in mind.
There was a lot of noise coming out of the club about a fortnight ago about the manager and other things and now it is very very quiet. Unusually so, and this makes me think Birch has already made the big decisions which will play out over the summer.
If that really is the case then I would prefer to watch non-league footie. At least that is still in touch with the local fans and community.
Why is it that every time something happens to one club, it becomes the norm / expected framework for disaster at other clubs???
We aren't at the level of the clubs you are talking about so that sort of investment is almost certainly not going to come our way. Of the clubs you're talking about, Manchester United are one who have been taken up shit creek. How many owners/clubs do you know that can secure a £500M loan against their stadium?! We're talking Old Trafford! The likes of Bramall Lane and Oakwell aren't of the same worth, so you won't get situations like that. The scenarios you speak of are unique to those types of clubs. People need to stop making everything comparative when it isnt.
Are you allowed to say what noises Bob?
Mainly what I've already posted on here.
OK, take Cardiff (too small or too big for comparison?) better or worse since Ridsdale et al took over?
Forest? One of these is going to be seriously in the shit next season when they have failed to go up, both have relatively recent new ownership.
Portsmouth? Shit-hole with more owners than an e-type Jag just this season, all promising the earth and landing the club with more debt than when they started
Hull? Pearson then onto Duffen, (Bartlett as the money-man) and watch them explode if they are relegated.
West Ham? Maybe a bit bigger than SUFC but certainly comparible. Eggy took over and dropped them right in it, and the porn dwarf twins aren't faring much better!
All these are clubs that have been taken over or promised serious investment within the last 4 years (or every 6 weeks in the case of Pompey), all jumped at the thought of serious money to get them where they wanted to be (PL, Europe, Cup winners) and all could end up in administration or worse.
Apparently according to a rather good source a deal has been struck up with SoD for the end of the season.
I've heard nothing since, and it could well be bollocks but the guy who told me was the same guy who told me similar information which caused a bit of fuss from the club when it was posted.
Since I was told I've seen it on another website quoting another source at SUFC who I know but haven't seen for a while. Some of the information he had made me think he doesn't indeed know the source.
I also heard it again on Saturday but it could be the same one coming back round.
Excellent mongering FB! Not only does it have the "my source has form" aspect, but it's also corroborated by appearing on another website. That's almost a full house.
Just as an experiment, I think we should plant a rumour on here and see how it grows and spreads. By the time it gets on bladesmad it could be wonderfully embellished.
How about a rumour that their are 5 Blades that want the pigs to stay up??
