So will the Blades have new owners/investment before the start of next season?

why would they invest in us when they can invest in the sty???

The deal is apparently still on the table, but will McCabe accept it? I can understand why he wants to keep his kids on the board so I can see this running for a while longer yet.

Zee Germans. No not really, its the Damascus' guys I believe but it wouldn't be investment it would be a takeover.

I think that depends BB on whether KM accepts the £95m

On a serious note, no I don't!

Oh yee of little faith ..................McCabe has been foo king abart for months !

Sorry about that BB.

Whilst I'll back them and support them, history tells me to be a glass half empty fan.

Wish they could come to some sort of compromise, so the club might then be able to move forward.

BB, can we have a serious post from you, just for once. Instead of the tongue in cheek one liners which are all pretty much along the same lines every time. It was funny in the beginning, but now it's getting very tired.

Told you before, check the bottom l/h corner in 'posting permissions': BB code is ON

I'd heard the same things as Bob. This deal has been on the table for a few months now, the sticking point is that they want to takeover not just invest. McCabe wants to retain some involvement, if not for himself then for the family. Neither side seem to want to compromise, so I can see the deal being withdrawn and things carrying on much as they have.

I see you are equally as popular on this board as well as Bladesmad Beighton ?

Sorry BB you couldn't post a single piece of information that was credible. No names, no details no substance I think you're just fishing and waiting for the facts to fit your story.

Well, at least the toilets will be clean etc. We all know that Damascus kills 99% of all known germs.

Coat on. !

anyhow what if i am spouting b 011 0 x ? .............thats what forums are for.

Ive had a feeling for a while that something is going to happen. Everything just seems too quiet and apathetic at the moment, as if something is bubbling under the surface that we don't know about.

It wouldn't surprise me either way but I get the feeling something new is on the horizon. Whether it be good, bad or indifferent I don't know. I just have a feeling in my water that change is on the way. My gut feeling is it will be for the better.

Watch this space.

If its not Lou we ought to be concerned....very concerned

We seem to share a similar warped sense of humour. I don't know whether to be happy or sad about that!

To be serious though, I'd not be happy to see the Blades sold to some foreign consortium or mysterious owner with a shady past. Too many clubs have fallen into foreign hands, and most of them are worse off for it.

(Edit: This was intended to be a response to Flatulent Bob]

I too would prefer domestic ownership in an ideal world Broomhill; but who is around with the sort of clout United need? The only way forward in football now is foreign ownership. I don't see any british business men lining up so it leaves only one other option.

I know we all like the idea of keeping our club identity and having owners that can relate to the Blades ethos, but football has moved on and we need to keep with the times. The old fashioned views of former directors and current supporters are exactly why we have barely moved on as a club. Its the Yorkshire mentality of being stuck in our ways. That's why we will always be second rate.

Out of interest, what do people think that "investment" would actually mean for the club? Do we think that somebody is going to chuck huge amounts of money into the club & be prepared to wave it goodbye, or do we think that they might want a far greater rate of return than McCabe gets on his investment?

I think people see the word 'investment' and think of a Chelsea sugar daddy pouring money into the club primarily on players and cementing a place in the Premiership. It's far more likely investment would come in the form of a anonymous consortium or recently discredited Far East businessman/politician with big promises but who will ultimately seek a big return on any money ploughed into the club. Unless we became one of the lucky few who found a mega rich individual who was genuinely interested
and enthisistic about the Blades I think we'd be in a worse position.

Throwing in my two cents I'd be happy for McCabe to stay....it could be a lot worse!

To be honest all I want for United in terms of investment is for someone to come in and secure the debt by making the club self-sufficient. The first act would be to pay our main creditors, one of which being Mr. McCabe. Yes this still means we have debt, but to someone else. But what I would hope is that new owners find a revenue stream that enables us to work off our debt whilst using our football related income to fund the football side of things.

Basically to cut a long story short, I want smart financial management if a takeover was to take place. Hopefully a new face would attract other revenue streams and transform the business. Its all speculation but that is what I would be looking for. Not necessarily a sugar daddy; though it would be nice :D

Yes, you are quite right. "Investment" seems to be the holy grail for supporters of most clubs at the moment. That is because they don't understand what it actually is, and think it is simply a way to continue spending beyond the club's means. In other words, they want an investor to take over the role of the banks, who used to chuck all sorts of money at clubs to spend on overinflated transfer fees and stupid levels of wages, but will no longer do so. And it had got really stupid - clubs borrowing against future season ticket revenues so they could carry on living the "dream" today - ridiculous.

I would personally prefer to support a club living within its means and not having to rely on anybody investing on a commercial basis to see a return.

If anybody thinks that some future investment is going to propel us into a situation where we can compete with the top end of the PL, they are living in cloud cuckoo land. We could end up with very much worse than KM, so be careful what you wish for.

But what I would hope is that new owners find a revenue stream that enables us to work off our debt whilst using our football related income to fund the football side of things.

You mean like a hotel or other commercial properties?
