Kenworthy? Him and Mcfail was one of the worst CB pairings ever at the LaneEgan and Kenworthy would be my centre back partnership from the last 50 years.
Fleck Norwood Stevens ,Baldock and JOC also make the 16. Stan doesn't.
No chance, kenworthy one of best defenders over the past 50 years easily. Saved us on his own on many occasions.Kenworthy? Him and Mcfail was one of the worst CB pairings ever at the Lane
That era was dark days for the footballNo chance, kenworthy one of best defenders over the past 50 years easily. Saved us on his own on many occasions.
Can't remember Stan bringing a song to the party, and for that reason alone.......
I compared Egan with the best centre half I’ve seen for the Blades, Paul McGrath.
McGrath was amazing to watch, his reading of the game and his pace over short distances was a pleasure.
But Egan stands above him. His performance at Man City was as good as I’ve seen.
He’s a rock
Stancliffes only game at top level was against crystal palace where he had rings round him by wright and bright and was subbed and never played for us again
Think you're right there he was subbed in the second game v palaceI'm fairly sure he played in the first game of the season against Liverpool as well. Tracey got injured and Pemberton (?) went in goal as we lost 3-1. He did struggle in that game I remember.

I also went to colley school with paul and watched him often for rotherham.I have a lot of time for Paul, played with him at school, he wasn't even tall for his age back then & was a pretty skilful midfield player, but then he shot up & had to adapt the way he played to his new frame, & did it very very well IMO.
Yes pal i do.Cool Goody, I guess you know Brian Skelton then? I am his best mate, we were in the year above you I am pretty sure.
Yes pal i do.
I still go in colley club every now and then but dont ofton see many from the old school.
Yes i still live local but im thinking of moving to the coast when i finish work.Blimey you still live local then? I moved away from Sheffield a while ago, live down in Poole now near Sandbanks but still go back to see friends for a night out. Most of the family have now passed on unfortunately & I have to admit that driving around the area I can't believe how much is gone; still have the memories though!
I played football with Paul, lived on same road. I left colley in 1970.I also went to colley school with paul and watched him often for rotherham.
As a group went on some booze and fishing trips at that time.
He was great for us at that time but he never hid his love for wednesday
Which was the cause of plenty of banter at the time.
You will have to excuse us old uns as i know we ramble on a bit. Here we go, shit post just dissolves into old schooly chit- chat. Meaningless OP, why not have, Doc Pace v Billy Sharp, or Joe Shaw v Harry Maguire? The list can go on, but it's boring and meaningless FFS.
I agree.I only saw the last couple of years of Satan’s career with us. He was a ‘stopper’, not the most skilful but hard as nails. Egan has more mobility and skill on the ball but, as folk say, it’s a very different game now.

He also was a fixture in the worst period ever for the Blades. Was never convinced by MacPhail. Generally reasonably sound for the level we were at, but I always felt a costly clanger wasn't far away.
Kenworthy on the other hand was totally reliable and more than a little skilful. I feel he was capable of performing at the top level.
He did actually make 6 appearances for us in the first division during our disastrous 1975-6 campaign. However, his appearances coincided with our best run of the season. W4, D1, L1. Not bad when you consider we only won 6 games all season.

We didn’t sign him until the 83-84 season, I think. He was one of the key signings that got us up (just), along with Cockerill.Due to the failings of others rather than him.
Incidentally, he did not feature in the infamous home game against Walsall in 1981. If he had done so I suspect we might have scored 'that' penalty.
Canford Cliffs? I’m planning to retire to Poole.Blimey you still live local then?
