It has on several occasions. Sterling's had about 3 1mm offsides and they were denied a clear penno at Anfield when Liverpool went up the other end and scored and the VAR people didn't have the bollocks to disallow it at Anfield.

I don't think there's any great conspiracy as to who benefits, I just think it's bullshit.

I know there are many posts about VAR but it`s just getting worse, they are trying to fuck the game up altogether.
The villa disallowed goal was ridiculous.

And the reviews and replays of said incident were very scarce. In fact, the only lines for offside were those yellow ones every 5 yards. None of the crosshairs bullshit. And they don't have replay screens at Anfield.

There is so much in if that game had been at the Etihad, I think Man City would have got the decision. As was ever thus, big sides at home get the benefit. Every club's been on the shitty end of the VAR stick though.

Yes some have had it worse than others and decisilms do seem skewed, but there's hardly a single team that hasn't had a shit VAR decision against them which underlines how shit the system is.

And agreed. With no mics justifying the decision of an unregulated body in a faceless industrial park, it is open to abuse.

The Man City offside incident was a joke and perfectly illustrates the fuck up that VAR and officiating currently is. The linesman raises his flag even though the Citeh player is not offside (even though they have been told not to do so unless it is obviously offside), the ref then blows his whistle (even though they have been told not to do so and to allow play to continue so that VAR can check after the event). VAR is then retrospectively used to try and prove a penalty in the same incident even though the offside flag went up and the ref has blown his whistle. The whole farce takes 2 to 3 mins whilst the fans don't have a fucking clue what is going on. A total of 2 mins injury time is then played at the end of the half even though the incident above alone took more time than that and there was a disallowed goal for VAR to review earlier in the half. It is shite. I hate it.

It’s the ref interfering that’s the big one .
There is no way had that been against City (or the other big clubs), it would have been allowed.

It was a farce but I don't see that as being a VAR issue as such, it was an incorrect call from the linesman raising his flag for offside when it wasn't and Marhez was clean through and then the ref blowing. As I understand it VAR then shouldn't have got involved with the potential penalty and so don't know why it did. Eventually it went back for the offside call once blown for, which it should have done immediately and not wasted over 2 minutes checking for nothing. I assume they didn't know the ref had blown so that to me is the miscommunication between officials, which definately needs improving.

I am still in favour of VAR for offsides, but only if it is an obvious error, such as a player being obviously offside and scoring that would have been alllowed to stand.

Being onside and waved offside is harder because players will stop, as we did against Newcastle, but that has always been an issue, and there is no consistency in that sometimes linesmen flag and the ref blows, sometimes they flag and the whistle doesn't go and sometimes they play on even if they think it was offside.
They need to decide what to do and stick with it no matter what so at least players and fans know.

Whatever, I seriously think it should be a visual check of no longer than 20 seconds, and if they even think they need to get the slide rule out to start measuring then it is on side with the benefit going to the attacker, which it always should be.
