Agree with that. Where’s he going to go? Everton, West Ham, Palace? Much as we love him, I can’t see a top 6 team bidding so, providing we’re sensible and pay him fairly, what attraction is there to leave now? Stay put, keep improving and he could get a big move after next season.

With no transfer fee in the summer to pay, these clubs could offer him huge wages.

What's scary is how Arsenal had no say with their player being moved on against their wishes and the agent going to SKY to explain that the deal was done, all Arsenal needed to do was agree payment terms for the fee.

We are a victim of our own success here. It's inevitable that our players will sooner or later (or rather their agents will) demand higher wages. We are no longer the surprise package coming up from the Championship with mainly Championship and ex-League 1 players.

We have to decide where we want to be as a football club in the short/medium term. I'm afraid that if we want to progress and cement our place as a premier league club then we simply have to revise our wage structure.

Wilder has made these players what they are today and is getting them playing at their absolute maximum. Should Lundstram, Egan, O’Connell etc leave they’ll become very wealthy men, but I don’t see them achieving anything greater than they could with United.

Wilder could sell any player, then sign a replacement and it wouldn’t halt our progress. Wilder is the only irreplaceable man at United.

According to a report released this week, the average PL players salary is £60k per week. Now, that is inflated by Man U and Man City where, I believe, salaries are nearer £120k pw but the reality of modern football is that we must expect to be paying £50k+ to keep talented players at the club.

I think he still lives in Liverpool. A big pay rise and a club closer to home could tempt him.

We were linked with Hendrick last summer. His contract is up in June.
