enough bollocks had been spoken about in relation to Doncaster Rovers, this happened;

"No disrespect to the Sheffield clubs but there is a definite power shift on the way. The key is the quality of management at Barnsley and Doncaster. It's why we have the advantage over the Sheffield clubs."
(John Ryan, Star website)

 I can't even breathe. My sides are killing me. They honestly think they're becoming a big club. I know there are some Donny lovers on here and I'm sorry if this offends but I can't stand it anymore its just so funny.

Any power shift will end up how it has done so far, it will last for about 2 weeks and United will leapfrog them again. Donny are playing well above themselves and have achieved their very best. The sad thing that they don't realise is it's all down hill from here....................

Oh wait, I'm forgetting what a wonderful footballing side they are. So good that they couldn't even beat a ravaged and depleted Blades side at home

Its a somewahat silly comment. BUT. when you think about it in terms of todays financial situation in todays game. not impossible.

They have no debt & a good manager, so they could have a good season next season if they can unearth a few gems from lower leagues. And a replacement for Sharp.

Long term then no, as our fanbase & history will always mean we are the bigger club.

A related question should be why South and West Yorkshire teams are so rubbish compared to those across the Pennines. Quite apart from Manchester (2 Prem clubs), Liverpool (2 Prem clubs), Burnley, Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton all have teams in the Premiership. All we have is Hull - and they may well be back in the Championship next year.

It is a strange anomaly when one considers the size of Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, etc. and how our teams are doing. I know the smaller Lancashire clubs have tended to have rich godfathers to bankroll them, but the relative lack of success of 'our' teams borders on the disgraceful.

Good points there

True Kev and don't get me wrong, they could quite easily have a season which exceeds ours and finish above us but it would be short lived.

I happen to think SOD is massively overrated (just my opinion) but if he is as good as some people make him out to be he will be gone very quickly which will slowly see them slide the other way. They also don't (and never will) have the finances to sign the likes of Billy Sharp permanently so they clearly don't have the resources or backing to move onto the next level.

Donny have hit their peak and in the next 2 to 3 years you will see them go the other way and end up as a good league 1 side, which is about their level IMO.

They are far to big for their boots and its due to the ego of their chairman. Don't get me wrong, he has worked wonders with that club and they have done remarkably well to come back from where they were. But their supporters should be thankful for what they have and be gracious with it; instead of constantly trying to play the upstart and claim that they can move on further.

It astonishes me when they moan after losing a couple of games and when they used to slag off SOD at the start of last season (again an example of short memories). If I was a Donny Rovers fan I would be jubilant at being in this league full stop!

Personally Lou,

I think we should see this as a massive alarm bell!

12 years ago Donny were almost extinct and now look at where they are.

We're far too arrogant for our own good at times.

I agree that both Dingles and Donny are little clubs with little money but also no debt with a good policy for picking up the right players on the cheap and getting them to fit the system that they play.

We need to show our potential and rather than believe our own hype and bs have a look around us. Both these clubs are progressing and both have players that were rejected by us!

We can laugh at these wild claims now, but the only direction we're going at the moment is downwards. We're no longer the progressive force that's "prepared for the economic down turn better than most", we're no longer the team that'll be in Europe within 5 years".

The sooner the club realise that we need to start turning things around with a LONG TERM plan the sooner we can get back to laughing at these wild claims by tin pot team chairman

Our management have slashed our defensive unit to shreds leaving our goal differential in tatters. With a strong defense we would have been safely in the playoffs.
If the club continues its cutting ways in the summer the strikers will be the next casualty.
That article might be near the truth next season.

John Ryan thinks there's a power shift so why get all giddy about it, is he the soul spokesman for either club? Think most of the Donny fans I hear talk have a very good grip of reality. Even if they were getting lippy then so what, they've done brilliantly since going out of the league and fair play to them for being where they are right now.

Unfortunately it's you that comes across as a bit arrogant and out of touch here Louie Baby. Take a look at the league table, take a look at the football being played, they're a well run club and they fully deserve their current status so instead of slagging them off for it, maybe some of our upper eschelons should be looking at how they've gone about achieving that and take a leaf out of their book.

I think the majority of Donny fans have got their feet on the ground (except Mr Ryan) and generally dont have the "we are much better than we look" issues that the Dingles have.
I have a lot of time for Donny and Rotherham, as local clubs, and like to see them both do well. (except against us).
Dingles and the Pigs I would happily see slowly wither and die off like an irritating plague.

And that doesn't come across as arrogant??? I'm creating a bit of banter in having a dig at our rivals in the same way they do.

Lighten up Mart

Without Cryan and Ryan both clubs would be losing millions a year. When the one with the Botox snuffs it, I can't see many millionaires stepping in to replace him.

john ryan is having his gloat and honestly, who can blame him they were out of the league a couple of seasons back so well done to them. he also mentioned 'superior management' at donny and barnsley and i can't say i disagree tbh

Twenty three clubs have been English champions, from a total of 8 regions. The North West accounts for almost half of all total championship winners with 54 out 110 winners.

Can't see anything wrong with what Ryan's said.
Donny are on a par with us now and if you took the results since we mislaid Walker and Kilgallon they'd probably be well ahead.

The south west are really letting themselves down.

They should stop eating Ginsters and get playing football. :)

Donny Rovers are about as likely to become the dominant force in Yorkshire football as they are to replace the United Nations as the world's peacekeepers. Still, it's nice for him to think that in his little toy stadium.

As for the Dingles rising, is Ryan insane? On this evidence I would say that yes, he's a complete fruitcake.
