Walking out the ground Saturday, looking at the table on my phone & seeing the Blades in 5th after almost half the season, I genuinely couldn't take my eyes off of it.

What Wilder has done in a little over 3 years is nothing short of miraculous.

We have far too short memories in football. Usually the most recent rest dictating our thoughts & feelings. Just take a second, take a step back, and remind yourself that we're seeing potentially the best United team that any of us will ever see.

Long may it continue.

At the start of the season, I promised myself that I'd just try and enjoy every moment, no matter what happened. Ultimately, life's too short to get worried about football scores. We put in so much money and time to being a fan, so it seems absurd that we actually spend probably 80% of the time moaning about it, in ordinary (non-Wilder) circumstances. I decided that, even if we lost every match, I'd still try and make the most of seeing our players up against some of the most elite players in the world.

If you'd asked in August, I would've taken 17th place without hesitation. If we got relegated with 20 points, I would've still tried to look on the positive side and clung onto the memories of the rare wins.

My most daring dream was that we'd have enough of a strong start that, by April, I'd be able to just relax and enjoy the last few games without the imminent threat of relegation if there was a bad result.

Nothing is certain yet, but it is an absolute privilege to watch these players week in week out and know that we can properly appreciate their effort, skill and all round ability. I've never seen anything like it in my time as a Blade.

I can’t stop myself “saying Premier League Sheffield United” in any football conversation. I even spent Saturday evening saying “5th placed Sheffield United” and I’m sure it’s starting to irritate people, a lot of whom are Bolton Wanderers fans, so I shan’t be stopping anytime soon, even now we’ve plummeted to 7th.

I had to pinch myself when listening to Radio 5 yesterday as they were seriously discussing whether or not we could get into the Champions League.

I think Champions League regrettably is probably a miracle too far for now. Europa League qualification is a serious possibility however, especially (and to be honest in the likely case) if the Carabao and FA cup winners end up being teams in the top 6, meaning there will be 1 or 2 extra qualification slots in the league. Am I correct that Wolves qualified with a 7th placed finish? So technically you could finish 8th and qualify if say Liverpool won both domestic cups?

If this were to happen we would definitely need to bulk the squad up considerably. I genuinely think our strongest XI could give anyone in the EL a game, it's just the sheer number of games and the travelling to the far corners of Europe. Does anyone know the financial reward for EL qualification? 'Big 6' teams turn their noses up at it but I imagine for us it would be a substantial bonus.

My sincere hope, considering where we have come from and what we have had to endure, is that we don’t get up ourselves when there are new kids on the block. Say, if we remain in this division for a number of years, and a Club like Ipswich get back into the limelight, we don’t all spark off with “we should be beating shit teams like this”
Just hope we all stay humble and grounded and we are still enjoying CWAK out manoeuvre opposition managers and coaches on a regular basis.

The really great thing, if you like plaudits that is, is if our name gets mentioned anywhere, you just know it's going to be a positive comment. You can't put a price on sheer pride in your team and club.

No. Four champions league places, three Europa League places. Need to finish 7th if both cups are won by top six clubs. As they were last season.

Can't see it happening given how pessimistic our fan base generally is. We could win the league and we'd probably be worrying about relegation the next season!

I talk about this current team now in the same way as the 1970-1974 team. As someone who, albeit was very young at the time, was lucky enough to see the 1971 promotion side with Currie, Woodward, Hockey, Badger, Colquhoun, etc.. I rate this current side just as highly. In fact I'd say I rate them higher.

A realistic goal is to target the FA Cup. A secure point tally means we could play our first team , whilst the big boys rest players. One off games not two legs together with some favorable draws -why not? Im 62 and when my Dad died in his seventies his stated unresolved dream was to see the Blades win the FA Cup. He said that he hoped that I may be lucky enough to see the result tha would end my family's 95 year's of hurt.

Yes, but as I said in my post, Currie was rated as one of the very best of his era and there are plenty on here that would tell you Woody was better. That’s without taking into consideration the likes of Badger who was also highly rated.
So, if Currie and Woody were top, top players their modern day equivalents would be the likes of De Bruyne and Mane.
Saying our players are less talented than those two is very different to saying they’re not talented.
