Would absolutely love this to happen been incredible especially this season. His build up play and ability to carry the ball as well as his finishing is nothing short of perfection for the way we play right now.
 
is this lad better than OMB/Robinson? I am a tad confused, as tbh the lads we have now were touted as best in the championship, so now is Ollie Watkins best in the league? I just think that sometimes the grass is greener on the other side, and this could be a case of that tbh.

I get what you are saying but it's more of a positional thing.
He links midfield and attack up, he has pace, he's direct, and if he's competition for McGoldrick... he cant have a worse conversion record 😏
 
Can I just add that I have been told this one is definatley on and also we are also signing Henderson in January.
 
If we’re talking about a player from The Championship and that sort of money then for me it’s Bowen hands down.

Far better than Watkins IMO and more suited to the Didzy role from what I’ve seen this year.

Watkins just smacks of another Robinson, who was arguably better last season. This is not a go at Robinson BTW as I think he will come good but for the rumoured outley on Watkins I just don’t think it’s worth it.

Go get Bowen!
 

I think he looks decent, nothing more. I Dont think he has the minerals to make an impact in the prem though. I would go for their algerian no 10. Benhrama instead - the next Mahrez!
 
Can we swap Robinson for Watkins? After his performance in the Newcastle loss I'm prepared to give OMB a chance.
 
I think Watkins is a safer and probably cheaper bet than Bowen.

If we're spending big money I'd rather it be on someone who can play any of the required positions. Bowen could never be the main CF.

I think we'll already be planning to move Robinson on in the summer. Either of these would be a direct replacement and we're obviously in for at least one.

My biggest concern with Robinson is the lack of pace. He comes off the bench & is unable to offer any sort of outlet for us. He's also not very well developed physically. He's a good footballer, but we don't play in a way that suits him. For that reason, I think you could be right. I could also see Wilder shifting him on in the Summer if a good deal (see below) presented itself.

If Brentford would take Robinson & cash (circa £8m) I would be tempted to swap. Watkins looks more of a natural forward & whilst not "rapid" does look pacier than Robinson. The things I don't know on about Watkins, & which are crucial to the Premier League, are how strong he is & how he performs with his back to goal. There just isn't the same amount of space to play in at this level.

On a completely unrelated sidenote, McBurnie is getting better by the week. If we invest in some midfield creativity in the Summer (negating the need for McGoldrick to start every week) then I could see Oli playing a much bigger role for us. He needs to go away & really work on his strength & speed.

A few more goals would really help in winning over some of our more stubborn fans.

If we are interested then all the brentford fans will be back on here banging on about their business model.

For that reason alone we should look at Eze or Bowen instead.
 
I can see.Watkins being a goer as a younger version of McGoldrick but I'm worried his impact will be similar to Robinson. Bowen is out of our price range, Hull reportedly want 25m plus !

I think Fletcher at dem pigs is one of the best Championship strikers at the moment and I think he'd be a good first sub for us.

hull can want £25m plus, but there’s not an ice cubes chance in hell they’ll get that.
The lad won’t entertain a new contract there and is out in the summer. He’s free to negotiate a deal anywhere from January, and appears to be happy to see out his current deal.
If however someone offered £5m their way in January I reckon they will take it. They won’t go up whether Bowen plays or not. And their owners won’t be able to afford to ignore that sort of money when they must be losing a huge amount every season.
