He's training again but there is no way United could afford him at the moment. This is a non-starter for me. Wealthier suitors will fancy him.
By the beginning of next season I don't think there will be any wealthy suitors left. Football below the top levels of the PL really is financialy imploding at the moment. All those billions it has earned & borrowed during the Sky years, coinciding with the Bosman ruling, has seen everything & more besides spunked on the obscene wages of a bunch of poorly educated young men who happen to have a talent, which our society judges to be worth many times more than the talent of saving lives, caring for those who can't care for themselves, and generally clearing up society's mess.
And from that viewpoint, I am genuinely looking forward to witnessing the changes in football over the next three years or so. A direct comparison is the correction we have seen in the housing market - the bubble is set to burst and football is going to be revalued.
I think the German league model is the way to go - much more equitable sharing of the TV money, as a result, a more competitive league, low admission prices, still lots of very decent players, Ribery is over there amongst others, and huge crowds providing an atmosphere.
But could you ever see it happening over here with the Arabs rich in oil money running Manchester City, Abramovich at Chelsea and the biggest prize for all being the Champions League.
I hate football the way it is at the moment, but i think the worldwide interest means it is here to stay

That was the point and good riddance to the top 4 if they decide to swan off and leave the rest of us. There'll be some implosion sure and I can even see regionalisation of the League coming back like it was in the 60s. Exeter vs Carlisle is a ridiculous distance to travel and with a regionalised league there would be more Derbies - including the most liberal meaning of the word Derby when applied to a football match

I can see that happening as well, but find it very sad. I am very happy that we have the pyramid we have - I occasionally watch Stocksbridge Park Steels in the Unibond Premier, and love the fact that they have a direct route via a couple of promotions to the League. It would devalue it if it was a Div IV North.
