Wilder to Spurs

I don't think they got him the sack, they clearly wanted to leave, but clubs are waiting for their contracts to run down, so they couldn't sell them.
Or Levy was asking too much for them. They should have all been sold in the summer but it wouldn’t have raised enough money to replace them and they seem unwilling or unable to invest any additional money on new players.

To get any top prem club he'd have to add a few o's to his name and have an accent so nobody can understand a word he's saying...... :tumbleweed:

Indeed, he has taken them above and beyond where they should be considering investment etc. Having to pay off their billion pound stadium won't do Jose much favours as far as transfer kitty is concerned.

I like Pottechino, he'll end up at Madrid, Man U, PSG or Bayern.

I don’t think Lampard, Terry, Drogba etc thought he was a bad man manager. Or any of his other players until he went to Man U. They turned him into Roy Keane, ultimately undermining him. No manager can deal with every difficult player, not even Wilder and Man U were toxic. Brian Clough was supposed to be one of the best man managers ever but he couldn’t deal with the Leeds pricks.

Mourinho fractured Real Madrid's team spirit completely the season after they won the league.

As for Spurs, they're revisiting their George Graham era but with higher stakes. It'll be fun to see how long they'll put up with it.

According to 'Arry'

But Redknapp believes Spurs should not appoint a big-name foreign manager and instead opt for and Englishman.
Asked who he thought should be the next manager, he said: "Chris Wilder at Sheffield United. What the boy's done... that's amazing.
"But he won't get a look in, they will end up going for another big name who is not as clever as him. Wilder could win league titles with the right club in the Premier League.

Thank goodness for Jose!

Why would Tufty go to a shit team that's below us.........

A club used to being in the top six? With multi-millionaire players (and agents)? A club who want near-guaranteed European football to pay for their £1bn stadium? A club who have their own scouting/recruitment netwoork? A club whose results aren't answerable to just the fans but the shareholders?

Far too much of a gamble to pick a manager unproven at the top level. They'll get Mourinho. And then realise his fire went long ago.

The FA Cup is chicken-feed, finance-wise. They need regular European football (and not the Europa Cup.)
Your not convinced in Wilders abilities then.
Fair enough.

He would have done if he had had the support of the chairman and board, it was them that undermined him and emboldened the Leeds pricks

It's just common sense. No matter how good something appears, Wilder has yet to show he can even keep a team in the Premier League, let alone challenge for titles and European trophies. Of course I believe he can, but Tottenham aren't going to gamble, they want proven operators.

A player, yes. Spend £20m on an unproven player, maybe more, but a manager, no chance.

So what arguments are there for Wilder not being the son of God?

It doesn’t really matter how much we rate Wilder, we’re not in charge of a top six club. It’s the opinions of people who are that matters.

If one takes a step back and looks at it through the eyes of a chairman or CEO then so far he’s done nothing more than Holloway did with Blackpool or, as has been mentioned before, Phil Brown at Hull. We’ve got off to a cracking start, that’s it.

Mourinho will do his usual, will be great for a couple of seasons and then get bored and force an exit.

Still, if he gets us a couple of cups in the process I can live with it.

Spurs supporting listener to radio 5 texted their morning show while I was driving to work yesterday morning, suggesting Mourinho will bring the “three year plan” he honed at Man Utd.

Year 1, buy the bus.
Year 2, park the bus.
Year 3, throw everyone under the bus.

To be honest, I am at the age where I really couldn't give a toss about the 'project'. I just want to see us win a trophy or two before I pop my clogs.

Since we last won the FA Cup in 1925 you have won (deep breath):
Two Division One titles
One Division Two title
Six FA Cups
Four League Cups
Six Charity Shields
One UEFA Cup Winners Cup
Two UEFA Cups
And most recently a Champions League runner up medal.

We have been Champions of Division four and Champions of League one. How do you think we feel? :D :D

Fair enough.

Ability isn’t as important as you‘d think in the PL.

A massive factor is prestige, world wide reputation, the looks and general sexiness of an appointment.
Public confidence/ perception is more important than actual reality.

If Spurs appointed Wilder their share price would immediately slump.
Their fans would be in uproar, the world wide fanbase would be saying “Chris who” and asking if he’s played for Real Madrid or Barcelona.
The fallout would be so bad....that the Wilder appointment would fail before it’s even started.

I’ve been saying this for a while that although Wilder has been receiving the plaudits....it’s more patronising style comments.
Most pundits still think we are in a false position and will end up very close to the relegation spots.

Also Wilder will be type cast as having a great reputation working with no bodies and having no money.
Its not relevant to Spurs or Everton, so fortunately for us neither club would touch Wilder with a barge pole.
