Saturday was the final straw for me. It wasn’t the defeat; it was the manner of the defeat. The fact that we never looked like levelling the game after going 1-0 down was soul destroying. That’s not the Sheffield United I know and that is the most heart breaking thing. I can accept failure when they show character and application, but we’re not getting that anymore. I always remember from my trips to the home dressing room the statement ‘Never Say Die’ above the door. That epitomises the club ethos, but this seems to have disappeared under the current regime. Maybe they should take a moment to read it every now and again.

I’ve just listened to KB’s after match interview on RS and he sounds like a man who is teetering on the brink. A manager can criticise individual performances, it is part of their job. But they should never cast doubt over the ability of their players so publicly. That is unforgivable and while it gives the supporters no confidence in their team, it also sends a very poor message to the players. He’s losing the stands and the dressing room at the moment and a lot of that is his own doing.

At one time I was a staunch KB supporter and I used to defend him against criticism from all sources. I always felt that he gave 100%, had decent methods and was a nice guy to boot. I was desperate for him to do well at the lane and get us into the PL. In the last 2-3 months I have opened my eyes and realised that he probably isn’t the right man to lead this team. We debate this issue regularly on here but I don’t think anyone can now deny that we should be doing so much better. Anyone who does is kidding themselves.

All the enthusiasm I normally have for the Blades has been sapped from me. I’ve been patient, like many other supporters for 20 years (others have waited longer), but no matter what happens the club can never seem to get it right for the long term. It just ebbs and flows every couple of seasons and it tires me to be quite honest. That is why I won’t be renewing a season ticket whilst the club and team is being managed this way. Saturday made up my mind. I will not be attending any more away games this season and will attend the home ones purely because my ticket has been paid for. I will just sit and see our mid-table finish pan out. After all, it’s a good excuse for a pint of magnet on a Saturday.

Until the club shows it wants to move in the right direction and changes the management, this will be my last post on the forum. I just don’t have the inclination to slate or debate the club anymore – I’ve quite simply had enough. Best wishes to all my fellow Blades on here. I hope we eventually get what our time and investment deserves.

See you around!

Last Saturday afternoon I was walking down town, checked my watch and thought, blimey, it's 3.30.

That sums it up for me at the moment.

And yet the week before we played very well at home....

We're too consistent

Consistently win at home
Consistent lose away

We've lost every away match in the league since we sold Killa and replaced him with a cast of thousands. Who'd have thought it?

Having not gone to the game, and also not heard the radio can somone elaborate on the post match interview. After reading Lou's post i would be interested to hear what he said.

The Plymouth game was entertaining but we played anything but "very well".

Read the same for Bristol City (apart from it wasn't very entertaining!)

I can hardly believe what I did the other week…

Sat happily watching the dinnertime game on Sky when I suddenly get a phonecall from my old man.

Him - "You coming to the match?"
Me - "Eh?"
Him - "It's five to 3, and you're not here yet!"
Me - "B*llocks! I'd forgot we were playing!!!"

Cue much embarassment to me walking into the ground with 20 minutes gone :fishbowl:

Sort of similiar to everyone else here, i haven't tended to go to matches this season due to knowone to go with, but when i get up after a rough friday night, at about 3.30. rather than look to see the blades are doing, i rather look to see how my bets are doing :/

Next season it shall be different, but at the end of this all, i get more enteraintment out of watching my bets :S

I suspect his exile will last about as long as Duncs do..

Fret not.

Excellent post, and I'm sure many of us feel similarly disheartened at times,. but why leave the forum?

Because it's what attention seekers do. F**k me, if you don't want to post then don't post but ffs stop trying to act the martyr, looking for a huge sway of sympathy from the rest of us begging you to come back. Pathetic :rolleyes::mad:

:gallop:

I love posts like this. Who gives a shit if someone is posting for a while? Why do they feel the need to announce it?

Just don't post.

Announcing that you aren't going to post for a while is just blatant attention seeking.

I'd just like to say that this is the last time that I'm going to post on here - until after tea.

Right, I'm off now to comb my big bushy moustache and listen to some Bronski Beat. See ya's....

I've just listened to THE interview. I didn't go to palace by the way, so am not going to comment on the game

My favourite bit was 'I signed the players because thats all that was available' (or words to that effect) - well why sign them then? If i went to a shop and they didnt have what i wanted, i wouldnt waste my money on something else, so why use this excuse? im far from a Blackwell knocker, but at the minute i do not look forward to watching united solely cos of his management.

A lot of the players he has signed i have been very pleased with - to be honest, i cant think of one he has signed that i've gone 'bloody hell' at. Evans, Yeates, Harper, Williamson, even Henderson are all players i like and came highly recommended by mates who have seen them play at previous clubs (eg, a Norwich supporting friend of mine described Ched as 'brilliant'). You dont suddenly become shit - something deeper must be happening, and its slowly starting to sink in that its Blackwell. We need someone to come in with ambition and ideas and get us playing again. I dont mind losing when the team gives its all, and i love scraping one-nils against much better opposition, but at the minute there's no passion, no soul in our play, and something needs to happen.

A few weeks ago i was dreaming of stuffing the unclean at home and sending them down, erasing all the double spouting oinkers taunts in the process, but now i cant see that happening, i cant see it at all.

harper, cotterill, sharp say it all, we all wanted them gone because they looked crap, now at new clubs playing great scoring and crowd favourites, say alot really.

Have i missed something?

I like the way that people always refer to Howard (had a couple of good games), Sharp and Cotterill (scored a couple of goals) but don't refer to the likes of Matthew Spring, Webber, Tonge, Armstrong, O'toole et al that haven't done quite as well, but were also sold by Blackwell....

Swiss - Now you've seen the light, I'll forgive you the odd comment standing up for Blackwell as change is difficult, but under no circumstances can you mention Matthew Spring. Blackwell signed a player who said in his Q&A in the programme that his weakness was that he sometimes allowed people to walk all over him. His efforts in the home game against Reading will linger long in my memory as a definition of total ineptitude. It is no surprise he hasn't done owt since because he was pathetically bad.

I think it's fair to say that Cotterill has been very well received at Swansea and to downplay that is harsh on Spadge imo.

In a nutshell; Blackwell has previously blamed the referee, linesmen, pitch, our supporters (who know nothing about football), the weather, international breaks, bad luck, injuries, loan system, transfer windows, but now he blames the players!!!
No mention, of course, that any of the fault may be his own tactics, game plan (or lack of), or team selection. That is not possible is it??
We can only hope that at some point soon, somebody at the Club will wake up and smell the coffee!!

I think its becoming obvious that the common factor here in the inability of reasonable players to perform for us is the "Blackwell factor".
I do not believe he has the ability to coach/manage the better quality players. He seems to be fine with the 125% players like Monty, Morgan, Hendo, Quinn, Cresswell, but has no idea how to get the best out of better quality football playing players.
This probably accounts for why we are so inconsistent.

Armstrong? Got POY at Reading last season! Whereas we ended up with Taylor and Stewart

Danny Webber playing regularly for Pompy.

Granted the others have been pish but he does seem to waste talent with relative ease.

I take your point on Spring, I'm not quite on the dark side yet, But.... Like I've said before, picking up on his media skills, suggesting he's a Bully or picking out players that've played poorly for us, but then gone on to better things isn't enough to suggest he's a bad manager and we should get rid. There are other reasons that he is and we should.

If anything, with Cotterill in particular, I'm more p*ssed off that he (the player) rarely showed his ability at the lane until the sun came out, but thats a side issue.

Again, as I've also said before, its pointless getting rid of Blackie unless:

a) The club indicates its intention of where we're going...The last we heard from BB's mate "Clever Trevor" was that we'll see how this season goes. Not exactly a Clever Target!
b) We have a better replacement that can push us forward

Now that I and a few/ many others have started to renew our Season Ticket, I think the club need to come out, cut the crap and let us know what were doing.

Yes we're in debt, we're a selling club, we do great business by selling players, but it'd be nice to know what it all means. What happens if we don't get investment to work alongside McCabe?

We're all still guessing and whilst its easy to be p*ssed off with our less than media savvy manager when we lose away and win at home, its the club we need to get info from

I don't think the club has got the faintest idea how pissed off people are but are going to find out in the next month big time.
I also get the sense that the club doesn't really care. It's just a financial exercise to repay an already very rich owner from now on.
