In all my 60 years of watching the Blades I've seen garbage, utter garbage and proper sh1te. But I've also seen Currie pinging the ball to Woody and McGoldrick playing centre forward and centre back, all in the same game. I've been a godparent to one of Don Givens daughters and got a lift back on the team coach from the famous 2-1 defeat of Liverpool at Anfield in 1968, the season we got relegated. I've suffered the many play-off heartaches and also glories in the Triple Assault season and I am a proud owner of the shirt worn by the much maligned (by many on here) Neill Collins on his debut against the pigs at Hillsborough. We have all been on the roller-coaster that is supporting Sheffield United. Not for us the angst of only being mid-table in the Prem. Oh no. Our angst is in fluctuating from Division One champions to smashing Division 4 back in the 80s. Today, for me, was the absolute justification for slavishly following the Red and White Wizaaaards. We went to Spurs, matched them and even bettered them for long periods of the game; were cheated by a virtual assistant referee and battled back to make one very solid point. WE ARE NO LONGER A PUB TEAM FROM A PUB LEAGUE! I dedicate this song to our Blades and our Blades family

Part timer (joke) yes from Don Givens missing that penalty it was an awful time to watch the Blades but at last we are back and playing some inspiring football.....I'm a little bit frightened to be honest on what Wilder can achieve?

I understand what your saying , my dear old dad used to say never change a winning team , and apart from mousset today that starting 11 was the basis of the championship team , look at Norwich ,villa and Fulham from last year that's why wilder won the Lma award and if we carry on like this surely he will be in with a shout this year

Btw that Walsall game was the last he went to before he passed away ,I'm sure it finished him off

Looking down pal with the biggest smile in heaven! ⚔️⚔️

But if Don Givens hadn't missed that penalty then we'd have missed that fantastic Division 4 season. It was great to watch Edwards and Morris that season - up with the best of United's play that I've seen watching them. Not Currie & Woody but not far off.
Your right there pal only missed 4 games that Season , not to bad for 13/14 yr old never forget Darlington away was in the boot of a ford cortina estate there and back with many crates of beer for my bro and his mates 🍺🍺

Being part of a football club community is so special, more than the TV audiences seem to know.

Ps welling up here a bit thinking bout all this

Don Givens was actually the only one who would take that penalty....
It apparently rather surprised him that none of his "properblade" team mates dint have the bottle....

I think he was a bit like "....well...someones gotta do it......."

Fantastic....things like this seem to have been lost forever with most clubs in the premier, there’s so much history and memories for fans of times like these that just moving stadia or being global brands removes from the equation.
Loved reading that, and brings back similar memories of travelling to matched with brothers, dad and grandad. Only had those times for a few short years due to life moving on etc, but they really are cherished memories that I didn’t recognise at the time.

I just hope my kids are able to draw on happy memories like those when they are my age.

I think me and you have discussed the varying levels of bobbins in a Blades shirt over a few pre-match pints at various times. To be fair there's enough to keep the conversation flowing for a few years. This now is beginning to rank with the Currie/Woody era, but I still do like being the Dog and Duck.

You can take the club out of the Dog and Duck, but you'll never take the Dog and Duck out of the club and long may it continue.

What a season, going to grounds I’d never been too before; Crewe, Rochdale, Darlington etc. Was my favourite season even better than 1970/71. Until Wilder’s first n 2016 - without doubt the best one ever, from mind-numbing despair to utter disbelieving joy. Still pinching myself every time I go down The Lane. What a man. What a team.

John Matthews was the usual penalty taker AFAIR
