£100m definitely, Egan and JOC £60m+ aloneWe all remember the pigs '£20m defence', our back line must be no less than £80m. Dare say more.

That quote you recall fuerstenberger was mine, written in August 2017 I think. The point I was making was that the back four against Walsall was Ertl - Egan - Hill - Taylor which was never going to be good enough to win a game of football in the third tier. I wasn't calling out Egan in particular; it was more the make up of the entire back line.
The other point I was making was that it was the implosion against Oldham from 2-0 up which left us in that position. If memory serves, Lowton got sent off after getting a second booking after scuffling with the Oldham players trying to get the ball out of the net following their first. Maguire then got a straight red in the last minute for bringing ex-pig Kuqi down in the area; Kuqi score the winner from the resulting penalty.
I have a feeling that Oldham game was also the end of Lescinel Jean-Francois - meaning that we had to change three of the back four for Walsall.
Chris Wilder and John Burridge.
Okay, I may be cheating a bit there as it was a reserve fixture:
Shit, my memory really is crap. I will carry on liking your posts but Roygbiv can whistle. That quote you recall fuerstenberger was mine, written in August 2017 I think. Who the fuck is Will Hoskins?
We brought him in from Watford on loan just in case Ched got sent down......
John Egan is the closest player I've seen to Paul McGrath since...…………...well...……….Paul McGrath. Unruffled, solid, a tremendous reader of the game and just does the simple things brilliantly. Makes defending look easy. As good a purchase as Wilder has made IMHO.
He was already injured. He was carrying a groin injury that needed an operation in the close season but was still considered fit enough to play. If I recall correctly we played him when we didn’t need to, which fucked him up for when we did need him.Yep, he looked half decent in the cameo appearances he made, but then himself got injured. Beattie got himself sent off for a pointless challenge in the last game of the season, and we went into the playoffs with a half fit Richard Cresswell, and the man-myth/legend that is Chris Porter...
But anyhow, John Egan. Future Blades captain.
That’s because McGrath and Wright were very experienced. Egan may be as good at reading the game when he’s at that stage in his career. He's a great athlete and does the simple things very well. He is committed, athletic and fearless, but I don't see him as an especially good reader of the game. Better than JOC or Bashambauer, but nowhere near PM.
Personally I'd say that Jake Wright in 2016/17 was the nearest thing I've seen to Paul McGrath, for positioning and reading of the game. The Coutts Rolls Royce just prior to injury was similar too, for being in the right place at the right time, although obviously he wasn't a defender.
Great bloke Egan and I'd love to see him at the Lane for many years to come.
Not all. I have no recollection of this.
Where did the £20m valuation come from, or had they actually laid out that amount on 4 defenders?
Completely new concept to me.

Wasn't it Brighton? Either way, he was clearly half fit at best.We brought him in from Watford on loan just in case Ched got sent down......
I think the part of my post you quoted shows I was already aware of that.He may well be, but the post I replied to, said he was already at that level.
He's not.
Really grounded young man , shame his Dad didn't see how successful he is now , lucky to have this guy .
Who the fuck is Will Hoskins?
One of those players who I always wanted us to sign until we actually signed him
That's a very long thread in itself.
James Harper
Brian Howard
Leon Britain
Barry Hayles
Geoff Horsefield
Paul Furlong
Phil Starbug (after a brilliant loan)
John Harley (ditto)
Greg Halford
Peter 'chest it in' Withe
Alan Young
Les Tibbott
Steve Finneston
Dean Hammond
Furlong gets too much stick in such lists. Two goals including a last minute winner on his debut should shield him from criticism.
Warnock mishandled him
You wanted us to sign Dean Hammond?
Halford was pretty good for us.That's a very long thread in itself.

Everyone was shit at Wembley though. For a full season loan he did a very good job I think. Not at Wemberlee.
A very talented player, great athlete but the heart of a mouse. He had no desire IMHO.
A mate of mine is a Leicester fan and he said we’d signed a really good player. Tit.Yes, but the Dean Hammond that had helped Soton from L1 to the Prem, then helped Leicester stay in the Prem for three years.
I didn't realise that his 'legs had gone', his heart had gone but his wallet was still working to capacity
I've gone off him since he came on this forum on the wind up.
