Anyone still thinking about relegation?

I’ve been sticking my head above the parapet for weeks to say there is no way we are going down.

If yesterday didn’t convince you of that nothing will.

Is top 7 achievable? Maybe, maybe not. But with the defence, organisation and sheer will to win that we have I think it’s more likely we finish in the top 7 than go down.

I'm a pessimist so I won't stop thinking about it until it's mathematically impossible. I don't think we will go down but I think we will be closer than people think.

I'm going about this season in stages. 1st stage is 17th spot (so about 40 points). We're already 40% (ish) there - 8 more wins from 27 games will do it - and there are still 81 more points up for grabs this season!

We've made massive strides already in our first venture back to the top table for over a decade. With this side and Mr Wilder at the helm, who knows what's possible!

Will Watford beat Derby's record low points tally?
Can Norwich achieve their target of conceding over 100 goals this season?
Will Newcastle be stupendously terrible or can they reach the heights of being just incredibly mediocre?

If any squad of players (well, core of squad) can stay fit and manage that it’s this little lot

Been saying since the summer that we had nothing to worry about. Seen nothing to change my mind.

It seems all the neutrals who wrote us off are also changing their tune now.

Some have developed another line of attack however, i.e. that the season will catch up with us in the second half, and we could struggle towards the end. Yet more ill formed tripe, because if they had done their homework they would learn that Wilder has consistently built sides who finish stronger than they start. Take heed of this you PL show ponies!

I take the point about injuries, but most teams are just as vulnerable to them.

The thing with injuries is that the core of the team are used to playing twice a week in the lower leagues. I know the prem is supposedly a higher tempo but I think a team coming up from the championship is better equipped to stay fit rather than these so called prem superstars

Saying that you don’t think we’ll be relegated and that we don’t have to worry about relegation are 2 completely different mindsets.

If we continue to perform as we are we shouldn’t get drawn in, that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a worry.

What has been achieved so far is magnificent. 11 games in certainly presents a picture that begins to be reliable. We should not be neurotic about relegation, as all 11 games have been competitive (except perhaps Burnley, who barely gave us a game). But anyone who thinks we have avoided relegation is deluded. Sport is unpredictable, and we have a track record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory that is second to none. CW/AK and the squad have thus far performed brilliantly, but we need to keep a sense of realism. If the final game sees the players doing a lap of honour after finishing 4th from bottom, they will deserve our appreciation. And just to be clear, that is not saying that 4th from bottom should be our aim.

A couple of key injuries and get on a bad run and things can easily go south. I'll not be convinced we're staying up until we have 40 points.

I remember going home in 94 after the newcastle game thinking we are safe, must have been 3 games left or possibly 4 ??, I can remember beating West Ham in last prem campaign and thinking that should be that

Right now I can’t see it happening but we lose Hendo and a couple of players then I will start to naturally panic tbh

I'm more intrigued to see what would happen if we continue this excellent run of form up to the Christmas period. Say, if we have 30 points after 19 games coming into Boxing Day. What would the Prince do? Staying up would be more or less guaranteed. Would he be able/have the guts to give Wilder some real money to spend in January.

My little wager on United finishing in the top half @ 16/1 is looking more achievable by the week.....that said I would still snap your hands off for one above the drop.

Started brilliant but I still see us finishing lower down the league.....but would be delighted to be proved dramatically wrong !

Let's hope we never read another post saying the next game is 'Must Win' unless we are fighting for a European spot.
