Back in the day, when Corro was Coronation street - Stan Ogden, Eddie Yates, Monkey's missus, Inkerman St etc so on such like - Ken Barlow's brother played for Citeh.
Congratulations K. Bryan. You must now go and buy a scalextric for ######mas.

There's some bizarre names flying around. But Mexx....where the feck has that come from?

EDIT: Mrs has just informed me it was a clothes brand.

Still never heard of it.

Sorry to come across all Silent Blade on this one, but his brother David played for Weatherfield County, he was the Tommy O of his day. He was than transferred to a London team never named, but I’d like to think it was Chelsea.

He eventually married into the Ogden family, their daughter Irma, and they emigrated to Oz. He was a most likely a pioneer for the likes of Monty and his eventual dalliance with Wollongong Wolves.

David Barlow played for Weatherfield County and then a “second division London club” then an Aussie team.

I’d get out more but Pat Phelan is looking for me....

Summert about a broken leg and a car crash springs to mind.
In my defence though, he was shown playing in a game. It definitely looked like Citeh and a well attended Maine Rd.

Back to wallpapering for me, with memories of Stan Ogden fitting a serving hatch. In the opposite wall to where the Kitchen was.
And many thanks for correcting me. As bloody usual.

Ha, that’s just reminded me of the bloke who ran our Sunday football teams DIY skills.

They had a new thicker carpet fitted and after much nagging from his wife, he planed 1” off the living room door, except that when he rehung it he realised he’d took it off the top. 😂

The other joke about Stan's DIY efforts was that it involved the demolition of a large part of the (probably supporting) wall. Hilda had no idea what he'd done it for, so he demonstrated by thrusting a tea mug through the huge gaping hole and asking her for another brew.

When asked why he'd made the useless hatch so big, it turned out he'd borrowed some plans from Len Fairclough and they were for a works canteen he'd been working on.

It's a beaut, and Hilda loved it, despite it not being connected to the kitchen in any way.

This takes me back some years and me and an old work mate still chuckle.
As a young bloke working in one of the big Sheffield steelworks, we'd have jobs all around the huge place. Returning to the workshop we came across a painter re-painting a halt sign on the road way. Had it's own rail network and HGV's coming in and out.
He'd done the black background, marked out the three ft high letters and started painting where he'd left off chalking. T... L... and done half the A, then went for a cuppa.
In the meantime, one of the Welding fraternity happened upon his unfinished work. No more ado, scrubbed out the H and replaced it with W.
We passed again a short time later to find painterman furiously whacking layer after layer of black floor paint over said W. this just raised it making W forever visible under the H.
Appeh days.

Not quite the same but:-

Once I planed a door
That was fouling on the floor
Now the wind comes whistling through
A gap that wasn't there before
A strip of beading I secured
With non-returning screws
Is I notice slightly proud
And there's nothing I can do
And I feel like the man who lives
On that farm that sits
In the middle of the M62
I thought it would be alright
Now I can't sleep at night
And there's nothing I can do

Sheffield's Greatest Living Singer Songwriter

Heard he got nutmegged by Ken Barlow - he were just a lad fresh out of Uni' last time I watched it in 1963
