Excellent read Roy

Thanks for that

Can summarise 'neutrals' views in 2 sentences...

All the top 6 teams think we are brilliant (cuz we beat one of their rivals)

All the teams expected to be close to relegation think we're shit (cuz they dont want us to be above them)

Thank you Roygbiv, read through quickly and I think on the whole the comments are fair. We will rely on our organisation and defensive duties as we don’t have the flair players, most understood this, as it is our first year.

It’s your Everton’s and alike who’ve spent £500m+ over the last few years to be in exactly the same position (or worse) that make me laugh.

Nice one Roy 👍

Anyone else notice this?

Villa fan
“Have to say whenever I catch a TV game of theirs I enjoy watching Sheffield United. Like us they will stay up as they’re decent at both ends. Respect Wilder plenty and he really makes that 3-5-2 work. Of course they can knock it long when required but they are also very capable of playing quick 1-2s out wide quickly which means with their overloads their wide players get plenty of space to get crosses in. They build up plenty of corners from that tactic and eventually they score from one. We’ve also struggled defending against them in last two seasons. At the other end they also have more grit than Norwich who are simply too easy to score against.”

Man U fan
Have to say I really enjoy watching Sheffield United play.
It’s not passing around for passing around sake (unlike their opposition tonight who wanted to get their possession stats up in last 20 minutes). They can knock it long when they want to but they are also capable of playing good quick touch football when that is required and they don’t get enough credit for that. It won them several corners tonight and eventually they scored from one.
Reason 3-5-2 is effective is they actually make it work overloading in corners of the pitch and play quick 1-2s that give their wide players space.
A very nice team to watch and think I’ve said consistantly this season they’ll stay up as to me they have more grit than Norwich who are too easy to score against.”

Villa fan getting his neutral perspective from a Man U forum? Or vice Verda. Bit odd?
As an expert copier of existing work from my essay writing days, I would suggest both those are written by the same hand (with a suitable amount of changes and reorganisation of words of course). I think that means a Blade may be infiltrating those boards to help spread the word. Well meaning i’m sure, but a little too needy for my liking.

I find it funny that all the rival lower end teams have mostly slated us but those quality teams at the top of the league have all given us good reviews - is that fear or just comments based on previous rivalry from our seaons in the championship?

Interesting read all the same.
Yeah its fear

Just having a look at The Debate on Sky, Paul Merson complimentary.

"I wasn't shocked on Monday night.

Don't get me wrong, I mean Liverpool they went there and won 1-0 with basically what I would call an own goal, the goalie, I would give that as an own goal from the goalie.

So this is a good Sheffield United team, I think we were a bit disrespectful. The problem is, this is not Sheffield United of 10-15 years ago on a Monday night where you're going there and you're thinking "They're going to kick us off the park here if we don't get this right", these passed [around] Arsenal, these were as good a footballing team as what Arsenal were and that was the problem."

“They’re only 6 or 7 injuries away from being in the shoite.”

As opposed to every other PL team, who could easily cope with 6-7 first-teamers out? Really?
Clue is in the spelling - clearly a turnip muncher from Norwich

It is because they are more realistic and intelligent. That's why they are recognised for their quality and the league position that they occupy regularly.

Interesting stuff. Wonder if he/she posts on here if indeed it is a Blade.

Good stuff as always Royston 👍

But why all the talk of avoiding relegation (or not)? We’re 9th after a decent start built on a solid foundation of the best defensive record in the league so far. We’ve set up and executed our game plan perfectly in every game so far, we haven’t been overrun our massively outplayed by anyone, including the European champions against whom we should have drawn. And it’s about this stage of the season that Wilder and Knill have got the measure of the division, the new lads have settled in and understand our philosophy and our performances and results step up a level.

so I agree with the Liverpool fan who said let’s see where we are after the next 10 matches 😉

Well that was a bonus Roy, brilliant read. Only prob now is how much extra work you’ve got, I’ll be looking for the next episode every week, for however long our success continues 😀

Nice one Roy. Love the comments from the Man Utd fans.

As spoiled as they've been over the years, I've consistently found Man U fans to have their heads perfectly screwed on when it comes to discussing football in general and the teams they play against. I know they can well and truly spit the dummy out when it comes to their own club but the comments from them here just show that they're still a class above many other clubs fans in this league.

Beating arsenal 1-0 is nothing these days because they're crap away.

But..

Beating Stoke 1-0 when playing badly proves they're promotion candidates as they ground it out.

Not even joking.

Why are some people so bothered about Wednesday that one game requires 10 pages of thread? OK I no longer live in Sheffield but Wednesday are not on my radar except when we play them.

That's an ongoing thread about them from 2 years ago. It's where we go to take this piss

So, hang on, they have two narratives going on, but the two contradict one another?

1. We're tinpot, we'll never compete, the other teams are a noticeable class above us.

2. We beat Arsenal. Oh no, they aren't that good any way.

So which is it, are we way worse than everyone else or not? We've just beat Arsenal for crying out loud!

“I honestly think Sheffield United will finish bottom of the league. They are hopeless. The Toon are crap yet I wouldn’t have one player from Sheff Und. Billy Sharp is their star player ffs. ”

😂 😂 😂
I love it when deluded fans say that - remember another club's fans saying something similar a few years ago and even last season !!

3. Stoke beat Arsenal 1-0 in 2017, pigs beat Stoke, therefore pigs are better than us, Stoke and Arsenal combined. To further back this up we only drew with Stoke twice last season, pigs beat them so they are better than us. The fact that our players had been on the lash for a week before the 2nd game is irrelevant.

Cheers for another gem Roy!

Looking forward to the "View from the Champions League" next year 😂
