Possibly Mick Speight on the right, but not playing for us.Is this us? Who are we playing? I thought it might be us in the white shirts cos it looks like Cantors is the sponsor!...

Was John Gannon underrated back in the day?View attachment 62800
For £50,000 yes- for a Premier League footballer - hell, no. If ever the phrase ‘my left foot’ applied...Was John Gannon underrated back in the day?View attachment 62800
Yeh! must have been the maggotsYes I stand corrected. Can't remember cat, there was a fly in window but I think that was dead. Sorree!
Signed for us on a free. It was Jim Gannon, not John, that cost us a £50,000 feeFor £50,000 yes- for a Premier League footballer - hell, no. If ever the phrase ‘my left foot’ applied...
Interesting to see how far the Shoreham Stand extended. Either that or they moved the scoreboard, which is as I remember as a kid 1947-50ish, at some time. Also the pitch seems to be nearer the Pavilion side than memory serves. Looks a nice day sunny, long shadows, in fact it was 14 April, England lining up
Unfortunately Mick Hill died in 2008Just seen the old picture of the players entrance which reminds me ,if I’m correct that there was a shop from roughly where the picture was taken from and always remember Mick Hill going in after the game then coming out and looking for the autograph hunters and saying who wants anything signing . Which my reply was got it a dozen times Mick. Anyone know where or what Mick is doing these days , does not seem to be any mention of him throughout this brilliant thread. Thinking of autograph hunting anyone remember the Topical Times the proper autograph hunters bible.

Yes playing for us at Brentford. Monday night match 22nd October 1979Possibly Mick Speight on the right, but not playing for us.
Sad. Nice bloke but did not quite up to filling Mick Jones position. ThanksUnfortunately Mick Hill died in 2008
I went to the Sunday gig with one of my little brothers. Springsteen and the band were fantastic. My dad was a copper on duty for both shows, he got to see The Boss twice and got paid overtime for it. One of his colleagues was a massive Springsteen fan, and ecstatic to get to work for the weekend. My dad thought it was hilarious that his mate ended up directing traffic at Fox House all weekend.

I went to my mates house on John Street to listen , they were touting tickets for 30 or 40 quid before the concert ,10 minutes after it started they were taking 2 quid so I had one and had a great 3 hours. Still got the ticket stub too.I went to the Sunday gig with one of my little brothers. Springsteen and the band were fantastic. Brentford, Tibbott and Speight. And that is the all yellow Cantors kit.

Afraid I was a part timer in 1979/80 season although I bought a season ticket in June 1979 but in July 1979 I decided to play football on Saturdays and my dad used the season ticket when I was unable to be at the Lane. The only away match I went to that season was the BDMWe had a 3rd kit that season for some reason. The Ajax kit at home (with lots of white) and all white kit and then an all yellow kit. Silent Blade might be able to tell us how often the yellow kit got worn, but not very often. That game at Brentford was one, though. He are the two shirts in question.

Think my dad took me to this match but thought it was early eighties, the reason being we definitely won but just had a look at the record book and we lost all away games in the early eighties. Don't remember much about the game but clearly remember events after it. We were stopped by the police and made to leave our details as a brentford fan had died after skirmishes at the end of the match. It later transpired he'd had a heart attack and nothing to do with any trouble, but as a 10 year old the whole incident left me shaking all the way back home where my dad duly got a bollocking for getting me in at 1am on a school night!Yes playing for us at Brentford. Yep, great player when we didn't have the ball, unfortuately his second touch was usually a tackle ...Mark Patterson one of my fave Blades midfielders through the yearsView attachment 62803

Spent the first nine years living 2/3rd the way down this street. Hardly luxury living, but at least it wasn't Council![]()
And if you’ve got any photos of any female streakers from the 1970’s, doesn’t have to be a Blades match, don’t hesitate!I'll certainly have a look. If I find it, I'll be sure to post it on here.
What street is it Bob ? We lived on Lynmouth Rd which was similar ,tin bath , staircase like the Eiger ,outdoor shithouse and we lived in the kitchen as the oven was the only source of heat. We did however have a garden ,a small patch of grass about 3 foot by 4 in the middle of the yard with about 6 flowers round it. But it was ours and we loved it. Young uns don't believe we lived like this they think we make it up.View attachment 62812

The long walk home, from the Grotto at B&C, along Chapel Walk, for one of Santa’s little helpers.
