People need to get their heads around the fact we are going to be in a relegation battle and that we are likely going to be in the bottom 3 at times this season.

It's been a fine start. I dread to think what the reaction will be like if/when we fall into the relegation zone.

I think this is one of the most negative and unrealistic opinions I have read so far this season in Rogbiv's "View From"!!

I also think it’s very pessimistic. It’s not unrealistic though, I think any one of 12 or more teams could be in a relegation battle. But I don’t think we will be anywhere near the bottom three. We do need to have more quality up top though.

Whether that comes from the existing players keeping a cool head and taking their chances or whether it comes from a change of formation/tactics/new signings I don’t know. But realistically all that stands between us and a top half finish is being more decisive/clinical in the final third of the pitch.

Yesterday was very frustrating because we played them off the park for most of the game but looked impotent in the final third.

We don’t look anything like a relegation side to me but we have to sort out the goal threat bit and I think it’s ok to discuss how to do that. It’s all about opinions and I don’t think anyone is trying to tell Wilder how to do his job. He’ll be seeing exactly the same as us and no doubt be just as frustrated!

No ones slagging Wilder or the team really but the fact that some seem to think we can’t discuss where we might improve in future games would make this forum pretty fucking pointless
Can you show a quote where people say we can't discuss where we might improve ?

You can't win games if you don't score goals. I think we are being more conservative than we need to be.

People should be as critical of the team, manager, and tactics as they like. It’s a forum and that’s the whole point. But if someone disagrees with you and thinks you’re being too negative, they have an equal right to criticize you. No one is shutting anyone down—it’s a debate.

It's not negative to realise we are going to be in the mix to go down. We could be bottom 3 by the next game too so not sure how it's unrealistic.

I personally feel it's unrealistic to think we will be out of harm's way all season. Surviving relegation would be a great achievement and I fear people are losing sight of that which is why we are seeing so much disappointment after a decent point at Watford.

Then people need to realise that as long as we get to the 40 point-ish mark it matters not whether other teams all win in the same weekend.

I know we don’t want to get dragged into the mire early on and we’ve succeeded so far, however we’ll be in the shit at some point. If we get 9 points from every 8 games we’ll have around 42/43 points. More than enough.

That does mean, of course, that unless the bottom three are all dreadful, we'll be in the relegation mix until the last game or two.

That should be good for the old ticker...

We need to be challenging the top 4 this season. If we are not in the champions league spots by Christmas then the lots going up!

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

As has been said, some Blades expectations are far too high. Champions league spot by Christmas? Are you for real? It’s our first season back so I’ll happily settle for Europa league qualification and the FA Cup..... some of our fans ..... ;)😊

Watford's fans probably didn't like their team's tactics but it was a good way to play against us. With a lot of possession with the other team behind the ball we don't have enough quality to open team's up - few do. They played us like we played Everton.

Our best chance of winning games is on the counter attack when we have space and even though Watford's negative tactics neutralised us I don't expect many teams to adopt that approach.

This is going to be a funny season. Usually you can pretty much write off 12 of the 38 games as ones where you're not likely to get anything but this season only Liverpool and Man City are in that category and the latter has already seemed vulnerable too. The others in the "top six" are all capable of being beaten.

Our lack of firepower isn't so much of an issue. The important thing, to stay up, is not to let goals in.

i like having a safety net. because we are 2pts above relegation zone , we play last if hypothetically Everton win, Newcastle nick a point. Southampton win & man utd get miracle take a point. all of sudden we ate 17th only out of relegation zone on GD. & having to get a result v Arsenal instead of it being a nice bonus or free hit. i know we are in surival i known it from preseason & every point is precious as we need to put off getting dragged in for as long as possible

i believe after today's result. only everton & watford have scored less. the problem which is more players than managerial. because he is doing a cracking job. But we are we creating loads not being clinical or not creating anything.

Many will disagree but I personally don't care if we are in the bottom 3 in the next few weeks. It's all irrelevant at this stage as it's so close. Wolves were 2nd bottom a fortnight ago and are now in the top 10.

Points are much more important than placings and right now we are on course to survive. I think it's wrong to say we "have" to get a result at this stage of the season. The division is so tight it will be a constant state of flux for a while. We need to keep our heads if we drop towards the bottom after the next few difficult games and realise that there is a long way to go.

The reality of the situation is that we will be close to the relegation zone for the majority of the season.I think a lot of fans do expect too much overall.

I am good with where we are at right now and will be ecstatic if we stay up.

Regardless of how they might have been playing,Watford is better than they have been this season and what could be a quite valuable point was gained.

That's the beauty of football, Newcastle had no chance today.

Well... I’m not sure there aren’t a few teams fancy their chances against this seasons Newton Heath.

For what’s it worth, Jnr will argue that it’s it 40 points that keep you in Premier League, it’s scoring 40 goals... historically.

Don’t know of he’s right, but it sounds plausible.

Given the number of likes for this comment, I think you could potentially stand for MP in this region. You have the masses behind you ! 🙌🏻

It does help that what you say is entirely correct but still, you can’t deny your fan base !

40 points: 40 goals scored: 60 goals conceded.

I believe people first started listening to Jesus when he said Nazareth United were going to be in a relegation battle and people needed to curb their expectations

Absolutely laughable to suggest a team played another team off the park when the match was a 0-0 draw.

We didn't even create one chance all match for Christ's sake.

Some would have you believe we outplayed Liverpool as well despite them missing three absolute sitters while we created half chances at best.

It’s right that we’ve all got a bit over confident in the past few years. We now hate not winning so the response can be OTT. How are Man Utd fans taking their current form Roygbiv ?

We’re all anxious to get to 40 points ASAP and I’m not sure that the ownership business isn’t actually enhancing that anxiety. The fear of the unknown is effectively removed by retaining PL status.

Plus we’ve spent unimaginable transfer fees on players and therefore expect game changing performances from them every game.

I’ll certainly hold my hand up and say I overreact after a game we don’t win and this is in a season that I said I’d settle for going down gracefully ! 🤣 funny how things change and I have to keep curbing my expectations (albeit normally a day after the game !)

Some of them are talking about relegation but most are just talking about how their Champions League hopes are already over

When people say we should be doing better they should first look at Aston Villa who spent more than anyone in the summer playing football that is good to watch and who are 1 point worse of than we are.
Would the same fans be moaning if we had beaten Southampton and Watford but got dicked at Chelsea and Everton where we were expected to get beat ? No I don't think so, just like last season we will drop points in games we should be winning and pick up points in games where we expect to get nothing. People need to calm the fuck down.

No talk of sacking the manager ? They are looking like relegation fodder to be fair

Man Utd are above us in the table, if they're looking like relegation fodder then we must be fucked.
There’s about 10 teams every season that look like relegation fodder and we’re one of them

It baffles me how quickly some people have started questioning Wilder’s formation, tactics and transfer acumen. This is a guy who’s won 3 promotions in the last 4 seasons and is the current LMA Manager of the Year yet seeming some people on here know better.
Some fans have very short memories , it's only three and a half years since Atkins was managing us to a disastrous season of failure.
These critical fans just dont know the nature of football and what it takes to come from zero to premier league in such a short time scale.
As Egan sang: it's a journey; we are on the road with bumps in it .
Fans have to chill out a bit, we have had a solid start with lots still to do to steer clear of bottom 3.Wilder knows what he,s doing
CWAK have a tough job ahead without fans moaning adding to the pressure.
