Ideal strike partner for Moose

The last time we had a fast and skillful forward like Mousett was David Brooks, formed quite a mean strike partnership with Leon Clarke.

Wouldn’t put anything past Wilder, Clarke’s always been a bit of an enigma but it’s amazing what the adrenaline of your last and only chance can do.

Brooks was doing the feeding, Moose will be doing the eating, don't see how Clarke is any better at that than our other options.

If you want someone to just feed a striker, you'd have McGoldrick or Freeman L behind, or Robinson to the side.

I'd love that personally. I think it would be hard to see how that type of player would get a regular starting place in our system, but as an impact player, YES. It's what we are missing imo. I don't think we have one player in the entire squad who can run at opposing defenders at speed and turn them inside out. Not one.

We've had some good ones down the years: Woodward. Salmons. Reece. Johnstone. Scullion. Wigley. Morris. Towner. Carr. Devlin. Agana. Kabba. Murphy. to name but a few. (Not all would be considered "wingers" and some were better than others!). But we have none now.

No mate, they weren't. Johnstone was all washed up when we signed him and spent most of his time on the bottle. Unfortunately for us, when he left, he hadn't finished the bottle and Howard Kendall supped it a few years later. Towner was a tricky winger, but he never did it for us. He'd show occasional glimpses of his magic, but he was a flop really. The point I'm making is about the type of player, not necessarily how good they were for us (which is why I said some were better than others).

Silent I get your point but to be fair Johnstone (Jimmy) I take it, came to us a dead end of his career and he was poor parody of the player he was, in his time he was the dogs bollocks. Towner did show glimpses but they were too far and few between mate.

Aye! But as much as I liked Duffy, he tended to slow the pace of the game down, rather than speed it up. I'm talking about players who would run at players at speed and make them have kittens. Players who, if you give them half a yard, will skin you at pace and get around the back of you and cause mass panic in the opposing defence. If you look at Liverpool, they've had many players like that down the years. Heighway, Keegan, Dalglish to name a few. And now Mane and Salah. It takes some coping with when you've got a bloke with skill and pace who is running at you full pelt. I'd like one of those. Even if it's just one!

Understand what you are saying but none of those are REALLY wingers as the old term dictates. Even the Duffmeister who, as you say, slows it down, is not really a winger. The sort of play you mean should come from our wingbacks (Stevens is good enough but the right is lacking this). I do not honestly think we could accommodate a winger (CWAK May prove me wrong) but a wing back like, say, Kyle Walkeresque, would be perfick! Is he out of favour enough at England and Man City to try a cheeky bid in Jan?
