Blackwell should have gone after the Wembley 'No Show'.
He has got to be on borrowed time now -
My vote would be for Coppell. There is enough quality in the squad for a manager that knows what he's doing to get us out of this league.
With Blackwell in charge we will continue to go backwards. He cannot fall back on his record now.
We have had worse managers but rarely one who is so stubborn. He should do the 'honourable, and walk away !

He won't resign though. In his eyes he's done pretty well so far; we're seventh in the league after a terrible series of injuries so he's probably pretty pleased with the season overall. Results count far more than the quality he's producing sadly. Also; he'd lose a lot of money if he goes rather than is pushed.

I don't like Blackwell, and the football he plays, but we are still 7th and still in with a shout.

We have been in decline for a couple of seasons now, the seeds were sown by the appointment of Bryan Robson and the continuing mis-management applied by Terry Robinson, and now we are in a position of reaping what that pair of fucktards sowed.

I think the decline we find ourselves in now will carry on for a good 3 or 4 years until the club stabilises itself and then can start pushing on and progressing.

Part of me wants Blackwell to go, but then another part of me concedes that we might be hard pushed to get someone who can achieve the same results whilst we are a club with serious off the field problems

Reading all the posts on here sums up the situation perfectly in that no matter how bad we know we have been, we are still in with a shout of the play offs.

One thing that doesn't feel right is that everything is so serious at the moment, and no one plays with a smile in the club. This has transposed to the supporters who view going to the Lane as a chore. The negativity surrounding everything at the club is a big problem, and until we stop feeling sorry for ourselves, get on the front foot and start playing some attacking football, we'll continue to feel depressed watching TRAWW.

Blackie - let the players enjoy themselves; some say he rules by fear - it is clearly affecting the performances of some of the players. If Blackie came out and said "Despite being unsettled by the injury situation, and players being sold, we're all in this together and I want the fans to get behind the lads" I might be persuaded otherwise. At the moment, everything feels so depressing.

The question is this: If Blackwell goes now, who comes in?

We can't afford to pay a team off to replace him with another manager from another team ie O'Driscoll.

So that leaves us with Mr Speed. Do we give him 4-5 months and see how he does?

The question is this: If Blackwell goes now, who comes in?

Who will pick the replacement if Blackwell goes? Birch? McCabe?

In any case, there must be an almost complete clear out in the summer. We've tried papering over the cracks for two years now in a desperate attempt to nick promotion, rather than building a team and squad that's ready for the Premiership.

Shoes off,anyone? :D

We shouldn't sack him yet (don't crack your screen just yet....)

We're in a period of transition on the pitch, with the finances and on the terraces.

The football club is having to re adjust it's finances and the fans are having to re adjust their expectations. Right now, it's painful, but it WILL get easier - if only easier to take.

It's better that Blackwell acts as the fall guy during this period. The season's finished - we aren't good enough - and it will take too long for another manager to make the changes - unless we opt for more rubbish like we currently suffer - so let's not taint a new man with the inevitable crap we're going to go through for the remainder of the season.

Let Blackwell take us until the summer. Hopefully he'll resign, McCabe will sell up, and we can start a new era at BDTBL, where football is the priority, on and off the field.

I would agree with that to a certain extent, yet another new back four again last night but there are still worrying signs that go beyond the re-profiling and injuries.

Why are we such a black and white team, we score first we win, we don't and....we don't. Last night, it took an hour for him to replace the ineffectual Squinny with Ward and again, we looked like a different team.

The lack of anything other than Plan A (until it's too late), the insistence of playing certain players regardless of form and leaving out others. The rumours of fall-outs (OK take with a pinch of salt but there's been enough hints to suggest this may be the case).

As I've said many times, I think Blackwell has been unlucky this season but to me now, there's enough signs and evidence to suggest that we need a change. Decent players have gone and I fear more will follow in the Summer if things stay as they are. The fans are apathetic and this, more than anything, should be a huge worry for McCabe et al.

we should nab dario gradi from crewe.. he's only caretaker manager.. wouldn't even cost 'owt.. are you reading this accountancy division?

Why do people keep saying we are in with a chance of the play-offs ?

You have seen us play in the last few months haven"t you ?

I think Alco has hit the nail squarely on the head. The problem with swapping Blackie now is that who ever comes in will still have his hands tied behind his back and any momentum created could be lost by next season pushing us ever further backwards.

Are you feeling OK Jim? I'm a bit worried about you having read that.

This is what happens when you wildly pigeonhole people ;)

To be honest, it's nothing new, I've said all season that Blackwell is a results manager and when the results go wrong he's in trouble. It just brings it home again when you see a chalk and cheese performance during a game like last night when every fan seems to be able to see things he can't. You know as well as I do that Squinny will probably be in the team again on Saturday ahead of Wardy, you know Evans will be brought off after 60 mins despite putting in more of a performance than Cresswell, you know we'll be lethargic in the 1st half etc etc etc

>when the results go wrong he's in trouble
concur totally.. thats a very accurate assesment jim.. because he has nothing to fall back on. .he can never say 'well we played well' cos usually we are crap when we win.. IMO he was lucky to survive the last bad run.. i think more of the clappers have lost patience with him now.. even people on here who have supported him through thick and thin have had enough..
one thing ..how does quinn get in the team week in week out?.. i know he played well once about 4 years ago.. but honestly i don't get it

Get him out now, give Speed the job with Paul Hart as Director of Football, with specific responsibility for bringing the youngsters through, and lets see if we can go into the close season with hope & expectation.

He lost me when he went to Leeds ,this time he last me last season ,I can't stand the bloke. Maybe people can see why I was so pissed off when we got rid of Warnock. Unfortunately 7 years of good work are being undone and will take years to regain.[/]

I'd do anything to have Warnock back. I can't believe how far we've regressed under Robson and Blackwell. :(

Paul Hart?????!!!!!! ARGH! He's from the same school of personality as Bryan Robson.

Which is why I haven't suggested him as manager. But the best developer of young players around, highly respected in the game, and with bags of experience for Speed to lean on.

I think Speed would be odd's on if Blackie was given the heave ho. You'd hope, given his illustrious career, that he would play football, and be able to pull off several favours in terms of transfers.

But no experience of management. That's a massive gamble.

We're one point off the play-offs, despite playing rubbish football.

We could be playing attractive stuff, but end up mid-table. Nothing's guaranteed.

Despite appearances I'm sure Blackwell actually wants both things (attractive football and play-offs/promotion), but it's not that simple. Wanting and getting are two different things entirely. I'm sure those of you that are managers (not necessarily in a football capacity) understand what I mean.

Is Speed the answer, surely he advises Blackwell now. Would he really be any different although he would be a cheap option, so he would probably get the nod on that alone.

He may advise, but do you really think Blackie would listen??

He would be a cheap option, hence the reason he'd be a front runner
