Staying up

Been saying this since we went up.

7 games in and it's already clear that we are better than at least half a dozen teams in the league.

We will need a striker to kick on and stick a few in quite soon though.

Yep, looking good.

We have not been outplayed once yet and look like we comfortably belong.

We really do have to cut out the individual mistakes and convert more chances though.

We're a 15-20 goal striker away from being a top half team easily IMO. Nothing to fear from 2/3rds of this division. Just wish the players had the same confidence in themselves that they absolutely belong at this level. It is coming though week by week

Another factor is to consider is that our big strength under Chris Wilder is “consistency”

We rarely play brilliantly but we put in decent to good 7 out of 10 performances week in week out home and away.
This is the reason we gained promotion, over a large spell of games our consistency will win us many points.
Last season teams like Derby, Forest, West Brom were brilliant on their day but also they were poor on their day too.

Fans of other PL teams think we are currently playing well and yes.....you’ve guessed....they expect us to run out of steam.
Don’t think they realise that this is how we play...we’ve been average/ normal so far...if anything we will improve through out the season.
It’s very rare under Wilder that we ever put in poor flat performances in league games and long may it continue.

Felt it was a shame that Sharp was suspended today as he would have scored that late chance which Leon out over the bar.
Regards our chances...I’ve been saying from the beginning of the season Wilder always over achieves....really think we’ll finish just below mid table.
If we had decent strikers....we’d finish top half.

Too early to say.

Lots of promising signs but basic errors are costing us. At this stage we can point to individual errors that can be eradicated but it can only go on so long before you start to question capability at this level.

If you'd offered me this start before the season in terms of results and performances, I'd have taken it.

That said we're two games off the relegation places, and don't even need to lose them both.

Far too early for comfort and complacency despite encouraging signs.

Need more up front imho but nonetheless I'm liking Wilder's attitude and comments very much.

We look good. Very good at times. But we need points on the board before I'll be confident of survival. You don't get points for 'We matched them, but...'. You don't get to climb a few places in the league for 'gave a great account of ourselves'.

Good teams get relegated if they give away soft goals and don't put away their chances. And if they're back-up players aren't good enough - see Wednesday night.

That is pretty much what Wilder said in his post match interview on RS.
