News has just broken that Ireland’s 1st choice centre back Richard Keogh of Derby County is ruled out for 12 months.
He was involved in a car crash and now has a serious knee injury.

Egan was made captain playing in Ireland’s last match, a friendly against Bulgaria and by all accounts played really well, contender for man of the match.
Some Irish fans think Egan should be 1st choice in front of Keogh. Well now.....Egan will get his chance.

Seems weird that the 1st choice starting 11 representing Ireland will probably have FOUR Sheff Utd players (Egan, Stevens, Robinson and McGoldrick).

Is this the car crash with Bennett and Lawrence getting done for drunk driving ?

It is just read about it ,Keogh cant drive ,has never passed his driving test ,a 30 odd year old footballer !!

Yes...just reading about it.
What an idiot. It was a Derby team building night out and the club even provided drivers to take them home
But Keogh with some other players preferred to use their own car and were involved in a crash..
Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett have been charged with drink driving.

It’s all going a bit pear shaped at Derby County....struggling in the bottom half...only won 1 game this season and under investigation regards selling their stadium.
bet Wayne Rooney is checking his contract clauses to see if he can back out of joining them in January 20.

I think West Brom had a few for NI when they were successful and, much earlier, didn’t Villa have three or four for the Republic?

Townsend, Houghton, Staunton I can remember.

What about Paul McGrath...think he was at Villa at that time too.

Wtf has he been doing with his life? Not like he can’t afford it, or doesn’t have enough spare time to learn.

Villa were a decent side in those days. As were ROI. I wonder how much the different experiences helped them develop as players. I think the current players will benefit ROI from being in the PL and, if they can transfer that form to the international stage and qualify for a major tournament, it will benefit us.

It sounds like there were 3 players in the car
And neither of them have admitted who was driving the vehicle that crashed.

Keogh is fine because he can’t drive
Where as the 2 players that have passed their test have both been charged for drink driving.
Why charge 2, when obviously only 1 player can be in the drivers seat, hence why I suspect they haven’t admitted who was driving.

Terrible news for the Derby players. Keogh is club captain and he allowed a young player to drive when he knew the driver was drunk.
But you can imagine the Egan family celebrating this stroke of luck.
The door is now wide open for Egan to become a regular 1st choice international for many years to come.

Really pleased for him.....his career is on the up going from strength to strength.

Ive read that there were 2 cars racing ,both drivers arrested and charged with drunk driving. Fucking thick wankers. Should be 2 in chokey and one in his bedroom.

Because they can get done for joint enterprise. If they've got a clever lawyer and the CPS fuck up procedurally there's a chance they'll get off with it so it sounds as if their legal team are on to it already.

Its amazing....I’d be absolutely furious if it was our players.
Keogh is captain, in his 30’s, so supposedly mature but he stood back witnessing all this. He might not play for DC again.

Egan won't be celebrating it. If it's put Keogh out for 12 months it's obviously a serious injury. He might not play ever again

Just to add to that too. He's also club captain. What kind of a person let alone captain allows two young players to get in and drive a car pissed up? Any other Joe blogs would be getting a suspension and more than likely a prison sentence. Different matter when it's a footballer though..... Laughable.
 
Good chance this will end Keoghs career and I’ve zero sympathy for him if so. Irresponsible and reckless of him to get into that car even as a passenger.
 
Wanker Rooney got done for DD , he will fit in nicely at Derby , all fooking toss pots who DD .

Every one else said enough , but these 3 lads carried on drinking then jumped into car
The donkey Keogh has a serious knee injury and his season ( career) is over according to reports

Keogh broke his wrist too apparently.

Must be a serious knee injury to take 12 months, at a guess I'd say PCL damage, maybe laceration in the accident? Fucking idiots the lot of them.

Keogh probably won't play at Championship level again, and the other two wasters should be locked up.

Drink driving's colossally stupid at the best of times. I can't even imagine the levels of idiocy required to do it when there's a fucking private chauffeur waiting for you.
 
Incredible stupidity of the highest order.

The 2 cars were heading in the same direction, so if both cars have crashed, then assume it must have been an overtaking manoeuvre gone wrong, makes you wonder if the 2 players were racing each other.

Also make you wonder if the 2 Derby players might receive a short prison sentence and if any of the players will be sacked.
Keogh must feel like his world has ended, might not play again.
He’s club captain and has single handily destroyed Derby’s promotion hopes by taking out 2 of his colleagues with him.
If any of the 3 players are sacked....then the club loses millions with the players becoming free agents to join another club on a free.
 



Why was Keogh a back seat passenger ,when only 2 of them were in the car ? 🤔
