This is one that i would definately like to know the answer to.

How can we claim that the sale of both of these players was neccessary when nobody could have possibly foreseen their value at the start of the season.

We would have been in more financial shit than we are now, that's all.

UTB

We keep hearing about the economic downturn and the poor financial climates. Given that Sheffield United have been described by yourself in recent times as a 'well-run club' and a club that others 'envy,' can you explain why the economic downturn has affected Sheffield United seemingly more than most? Why has it - with the exception of a couple of other teams - not affected the likes of Forest, West Brom, Leicester, Swansea, Blackpool more than United? In hindsight, do you regret any of the decisions you have made?

I think it was pretty much 2 kyle's = -1 parachute payment

If you can get the questions sorted by the end of tomorrow, I'll try and remove any repetitions and get a draft up by the end of Thursday.

If the general consensus is a goer. It'll be in the post on Friday.

I might even be a tinker and send it "signed for" delivery... just in case.

I think it's a winner because there'll be a number of fans in my boat right now. Not sure what to believe. People who want to believe everything is fine but have got nagging doubts that everything isn't how we've been told. If KMc answers - and fair play to him if he does - that's got to be good PR for the bloke. I don't think people are asking these questions to voice their discontent - I'm not - but more in a quest to simply understand what's going on.

At the start of KBs reign great store was made of the slogan " The Blades Way"

If the "Blades Way" is :-
Selling all your best players and having a team half full of loanees
Playing long ball football with no flare or imagination which leads to apathy amongst the supporters"

Can we please devise another way ?

I think we need some answers Linz. These are footballing questions but i'd like to know McCabes thoughts

- Since we went through a reprofiling exercise after the play off final. What is the player profile at the club now?
- Have we achieved this?
- Why does he consider selling our best players good business when we replace them with lesser players?
- Does he believe that we are heading for a full team of loaned players next season?
- After the broken promises this season why should I renew my season ticket next season?
- When does he expect to see the benefits of the sister clubs filtering on to the pitch at S2
- Based on the target of Europe within 5 years, does he now consider that as a club we have failed by not meeting this target
- What is the clubs current footballing philosphy, attacking expansive football?
- Following the mistakes with not addressing Killa's contract sooner and the Kyle Walker recall clause, what is now being done to ensure that we are better equipped to deal with contracts and transfers/ Loans

Supplementary from raul

If you are no longer prepared to put investment into the FOOTBALL CLUB, and those are the key words, what would you say to fans currently having serios misgivings about ST renewal?

I think the questions got put to Kevin McCabe in the summer at a Q and A session, and i don't think that after attending that night that anything has changed, and it will still be the same old spin on things.

The usurper is after his own monster TKAS thread.

So we shouldn't ask questions of him or more to the point Trevor Birch then?

Plus things have changed since the summer.

So how do you think things have changed, and what should we ask that wasn't asked in the summer, and what answers (spin) will McCabe dish out in response.

My question would be...

How long does he expect it to be until we are able to maintain a stable playing squad?

As somebody who actively markets SUFC to overseas audiences are you happy with the brand of football being played by Sheffield United?

Good Question. I don't know what has changed at the club, but clearly something has. Hence why I feel that we need to ask questions (see my questions above)

Incidently I watched the NW DVD the other day that was filmed the year before we went up. Its always good to watch and reflect.

Things aren't exactly different now to then on the pitch. Things we're clicking that season. But we had a team of players that we owned, they weren't the same quality as this bunch, but at least we owned them.

The following season NW dabbled, wheeled, dealed and we grew a pair and went for it, we didn't spend much, but we gave it a go and got things right.

You may notice that I keep sticking up for Blackie, sure he gets results more often than not. I stick up for him, not because I like him or his style of play, but because I thought that he was part of the Club's Jigsaw of the Blades way (Ambition on the cheap). But I no longer understand what the Club's plan is anymore.

I don't think Blackie is the main problem at the club, I think there are decisions above him that are affecting the team.

Nothing gets resolved quickly in our favour, we're no longer proactive, we react after the event and play the victim.

Not having a fit replacement for Killa/ Siep, Kyle Walker being recalled at the last minute, Kalio not being able to play. Of course these aren't all within our hands.

McCabe maybe a fan, he may have the clubs interests at heart but something isn't right and perhaps there has been a major hole on the football club side since Derek Dooley passed on.

Is Trevor Birch this man? Perhaps, but we also need to know what he's doing. I don't think we ever found out what Robinson did.

Am I wrong in thinking that you said towards the end of last year that there would be substantial investment in players in the January window?

Why did you extend KB's contract last season , was it because he was cheap and would raise cash for you without kicking off about being left with no quality at the club ?

Why when we have sold all our better players and spent hardly any of the cash raised are we so much in debt ?

How the hell can our wage bill be what you say it is when we hardly have a squad of players and are only paying a fraction of the wages of a large portion of the squad (the loanees) ?

If/when the property market recovers will the profits :D from the sales of properties owned now by SUFC/Scarborough be used on football ... and not go towards paying you off ? and come to think of it what is in the portfolio of the said company ?

Do you regret building the hotel and and is it true that the money recieved from Copthorne covers the mortgage the club pays on it ?

Why in the Prem season were you more interested in hiring the likes of Jason Rockett ... than Jason Koumas and do you wish you would have given Warnock a bigger budget to keep us up , bearing in mind that we went down by a single goal ?

Why did you let Terry Robinson hire Bryan Robson when no other person associated with SUFC wanted him near our club ... and then go on to back one of the worse managers we have ever had with the biggest player budget the club has ever had ?

Do you think if you had not bottled it with Beattie that we would have gone up automatic last season ?

Its friggin endless and its unbelievable that some/most fans still have faith in him !

Ask Kev the following:

What is the current situation regards investment?

How do you expect SUFC to be competitive next season when:

A) the board continue to sell our best players
B) Sold players are replaced by loans. An example of that being that had Walker & Kalio played against Watford as was expected, 4 out of the back 5 would have been loanees! Surely this is deemed unacceptable by any club, let alone our football club?

C) How do SUFC aim to address the problem of diminishing permanent contracted squad players?

D)Realistically Kevin, what are your aims for the next 3 seasons and how do you see this club competing at the top end of the CCC to enable us to compete for promotion?

E) On a personal note, at what capacity do you see yourself involved with SUFC in 3 years time?

F) Should not Trevor Birch be a little more in tune with the fanbase? By that I mean there is no communication from him. The fans feel out of touch, isolated and during these difficult times, the need to communicate, be open and transparent has never been so important.

Thanks Linz!

1. Did we get any bids for Kilgallon in the summer? If so why did we not sell up then and look to bring in a suitable replacement.

2. Could you set the fans straight on how much Ched Evans actually cost? Figures range from £750,000 to £3m.

3. Why does it look like we could be over reliant on loans again for the 2nd half of the season.

4. Do we actually have 1st refusal on Tottenham's youngsters? If so why haven't we utilised this (as yet)?

5. Was Kyle Walker on a season long loan or not? What reason has been given for his recall?

6. Did we attempt to loan Kyle Naughton? Given his performances last season would he have not given us a huge boost for the 2nd half of the season?

7. I know Bill Sharp hasn't set the world alight at Sheffield United but why didn't we have the foresight to insert a recall clause into his loan with Doncaster (when the majority of players we've loaned seem to have a recall clause)?

8. Why is there often contradictory statements released by that are full of spin and possible half truth's? (Eg. BT is going nowhere, then 2 days later he's gone at a loss as we can't afford him? If Killa isn't gone by the 1st week of Jan then he's here until the end of season. Substantial funds with a capital S are available to spend) I know you can't give us every little detail but can the club not be straight up with the fans?

9. Does our scouting network need to improve to fit in the squd re-profiling? ie. identifying talent that won't break the bank (Dorrans WBA), my personal opinion is we don't seem to be very good at this!

10. Finally, After what's happened with walker and spurs are there any plans to sue spurs as that seems to be the blades way when things don't turn out how we want? ;):p

This is the one Linz - no need for anymore! Brilliant questions.

Dear Kev.
I keep hearing the term "The Blades Way". Can you explain what YOU believe this to be?
The term "re-profiling", can you explain the EXACT nature of this?
Do you still attend games and, if so, are you happy with the type of football that is currently being played?
Love and kisses G.

I would love to ask him the following;

Making your response as transparent as possible for a change, could you please tell me what the current financial situation is at the club? Please avoid any bullshit smoke screening in your answer.

Are you happy with the current style of football on offer? Or do you just watch the edited highlights from your ivory tower?

You have done an awful lot in the past to get the club on a firm financial footing, whilst supporting the manager in having a decent sized squad. What has changed in the last 12-18 months?

If we are to accept your view that we had “no choice” but to sell the two Kyles; what would have happened if those two players hadn’t come through the academy? Would we have been desperate to find £10 million from somewhere else?

What was the reason for setting Bryan Robson on? A manager with a poor track record who had been out of the game for a good two years previously.

Why are we still saddled by this little empire of foreign clubs that is yielding no benefit to the most important team of the lot – Sheffield United?

Mr McCabe

As a businessman, are you prepared to see a massive drop in revenue next season, because this is clearly what will happen if nothing is done soon?

FAO Linz

Did the questions get sent to McCabe/ Birch?

The 'Hyped' Radio Sheffield Q & A session with Birch, didn't exactly push the limits of with journalism and questioning, they could have basically given a list of questions and could have saved the air time.

We still don't know what it all means, particularly after this season and into the future.

We know there will be wage cuts, but what does this mean in reality? Players offered new contracts with lower wages, sales, more loans etc?

I did type everything up, but Birch's comments did (sort of) cover quite a few of the questions about the money side of things, which did make up the majority of my letter.

If anyone wants anything asking bearing the Birch interview in mind, it wouldn't take long to get it changed.
