Did the questions get sent to McCabe/ Birch?

The 'Hyped' Radio Sheffield Q & A session with Birch, didn't exactly push the limits of with journalism and questioning, they could have basically given a list of questions and could have saved the air time.

We still don't know what it all means, particularly after this season and into the future.

We know there will be wage cuts, but what does this mean in reality? Players offered new contracts with lower wages, sales, more loans etc?

That's the problem when you've got morons working for a radio station.

I did type everything up, but Birch's comments did (sort of) cover quite a few of the questions about the money side of things, which did make up the majority of my letter.

If anyone wants anything asking bearing the Birch interview in mind, it wouldn't take long to get it changed.

Thanks Linz.

To be fair, its raised more questions, so i've split it 3 ways:

Football business
I understand that the 45 Mill + debt is not the football club's debt. Its Hotel and McCabe loans, but did these loans go to the football club?

Whilst we have all the subsidary's of Hotel, property, Hungarian Football club, China, Scarborough etc and we're one big family, have we been spending more on the football team than the football team generates? Ie tevez cash, player sales, gate receipts, match day income, sponsorship, parachute payments, league and cup money etc?

Who's looking after the Interests of the football team on the Board? Is there independence from the football and the financial parts of the club or does Trevor Birch fulfill a dual role of money saving and football progression?

Football Team
Since we went through a reprofiling exercise after the play off final. What is the player profile at the club now?
- Have we achieved this profile target?
- Why does he consider selling our best players good business when we replace them with lesser players?
- Does he believe that we are heading for a full team of loaned players next season?
- When does he expect to see the benefits of the sister clubs filtering on to the pitch at S2
- Based on the target of Europe within 5 years, does he now consider that as a club we have failed by not meeting this target
- What is the clubs current footballing philosphy, attacking expansive football? Long Ball?
- Following the mistakes with not addressing Killa's contract sooner and the Kyle Walker recall clause, what is now being done to ensure that we are better equipped to deal with contracts and transfers/ Loans
- After the broken promises this season why should I renew my season ticket next season?
- How are we moving forward on the field?
- What is the long term and short term target beyond this season. (With promotion and without)
- How much say does the team manager have in - preventing player sales? the academy? Loan/ fixed contract ratio of players?

Non Football
What is the repayment duration for the Hotel Debt?
What is the repayment duration for the McCabe Loans?
Why has McCabe chosen now to pull out? Why this year and not next?
What Benefits do Sheffield United FC receive from mcCabe using the clubs name to promote his property business?

Does he think that the Trevor Birch Q&A on radio Sheff was a success?

Birch did say that Fradi was nothing to do with United. Like Bob said in the opening post, the questions need to be worded to avoid any wriggle. This one would be dismissed out of hand because of what Birch said.

Again, he would say he's a money man and questions about football are the domain of the manager.

Cost cutting and promotion. Birch said so.

Will take all the other questions forward.

Swiss - you are the man. Welcome aboard.

Seriously, can someone ask him why Blades Realty hasn't submitted its February 2009 accounts yet? Shall I write to him?

Thanks again Linz.

I hear what you say Linz, perhaps some of the questions need directing better, but for my mind he didn't answer some of the questions. My comments to your comments are below.

Shortened (and expanded) the first question then

Have we been spending more on the football team than the football team generates? (Ie tevez cash, player sales, gate receipts, match day income, sponsorship, parachute payments, league and cup money etc)
If yes, would he consider this as spending beyond our means?
On the same token, has football money been used to fund other "non footballing ventures"?

Second comment
He's the money man, but he's the Football club Chairman isn't he? I want to know what the FC's philosophy is towards football. Its not like the football is a fringe part of the business, its our sector. Its should be ingrained in the organisation, not just with the manager. In short the targets of the FC will drive the money, so i'd be surprised if he doesn't have the corporate line on this. Besides, he'll need it when he's marketing the club to potential investors.

Third comment
How do the cost cutting and promotion intertwine, aren't these conflicting targets? Besides, he only gave targets for this season.

I can ask... have added it to the list.

Appears that the majoritry of the Scarborough Groups different company accounts are also late including

Scarborough Group Developments Ltd
Scarborough Group Holdings Ltd
Scarbourough China Holdings Ltd

Interesting that a number of shell companies have also been formed recently both for Scarborough Group and Sheffield United ??

Yep - they are all late. Cannot be good news in my opinion. They haven't changed year end either by looks of it.

In the June 2009 plc accounts it says that the ownership structure of all the assets (Chengdu, Realty, Hotel etc) is under review. These shell companies could be part of some kind of re-organisation - ie debt being juggled around from a to b to c.

Fradi is clearly plenty to do with Sheffield United, whatever Birch has said.
Everything that's come out of SUFC, including players and other resources, underlines this.

Dont think they can change the accounting reference date if the accounts are late.

There are always exceptions but generally you file accounts late when you dont want people to see whats in them.

Could be that they are looking at completing the Feb 2010 accounts first to see what picture they give.

Did this letter get sent? And was there a response? I am thinking of writing another one myself, whether he will get back to me again is another thing.

Ha Ha I was seriously thinking of bumping this thread.

Are you aware of the apparent unrest on internet forums of ST holders saying they will not renew under the current management regime? Do you believe those claims to be genuine and what does the club think it needs to do inorder to reassure these disaffected fans?

Raul's got it bang on.
Anyone know if Trev or even Big Kev are still with us?

I think we need the answers.

You want answers?

I would ask
As Chairman, are you aware that the fan base of SUFC is likely to dwindle and that season ticket holders of many years at this moment in time are seriously considering their renewal while ever the current incumbant and is in charge.
That the supporters of SUFC are not stupid and will not put with the ,spin and 'non truths' that have been seeping out of Bramall Lane for the past months.
And the current brand of non football combined with poor results and performances is totally unacceptable.

how much drawing does he take for personal use from the club?
Did the 25m from tevez affairs going to mr McCabe?
When's warnock coming back ;)
And last but not least...

how did we manager to get from the black to in debt of 48million (full details :))

You really think we were at any point 'in the black' in our recent history?

Aside from the fact that I'm proud of you for sticking up for sides who are financially not viable without TV money, are you happy that this has stopped me from paying anything through your turnstiles, and I'm gone to non-league matches, as your game means nothing to me anymore?

I can't identify with Sheffield United anymore. The fans? Of course I can. Wonderful set of insanity. The club? Nope.

I'm done. It's not your fault King Kev, but this just isn't what I first saw. I'd rather be in Dronfield watching Club, who might still get promotion this year!
