Does he? He did well for us in League 1 and well in out first year in the Championship, but didn't do much or anything to us then getting promoted to the Prem. With the options we now have, I can't see him getting much game time beyond the cups

We have a spare place in the squad. We aren’t looking to bring anyone else in (free agent) before January. On the slight chance we have a striker injury crisis we have Leon as back up. Better than no striker at all and can all change in 4 months time (almost certainly will) Makes perfect sense to me.

I think summer last year in response to the Chedmaniacs declaring Evans should get some increased game-time for us in the new season, I said that if he did something will have gone very badly wrong with our season. It’s the same now in relation to Clarke. For him to play means at least 4 of McGoldrick, Robinson, McBurnie, Mousset and Sharp all being injured or suspended at the same time.

I'd dispute several parts of this statement:
To support Ched Evans you don't need to be a 'Chedmaniac'.
I'd say Evans was a better option than both Hogan and Washington who both got game time last season and that didn't foretell of a bad season.
Evans had sacrificed himself by playing through injury and therefore could've been considered to have earned a chance.
However that he did not get game time leads me to believe that this was not a Wilder signing and I had previously taken the manger at his word that he was.

After playing Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal around Crimbo, Wilder will prioritise the League Cup semi and leave a couple of strikers off the bench for Man City at home, Leon will come on in the 78th minute with the score at 3-1 Citeh and score a perfect hattrick and immediately retire.

Since he's still here only sensible to give him the last number , wouldn't surprise me if he got the odd game from the bench he's a real handful and an un known quantity to premiership defences.
Clarke would love to score a goal at this level ,Wilder knows he could offer something , shrewd move in my opinion.

This is quite simply a case of Leon being on the books, we are contractually obliged to pay him and we a squad place available.
Leon won’t get anywhere near the first team unless we have a massive injury crisis. Wilder would look a right tit if he had Leon on the books, a spare squad number, an injury crisis and he was unable to use him. He is just covering his ass, nothing deeper than that

Yeah sure you would. Regarding his performance, that went south a long time ago and old father time will ensure that ain't going to change any time now or in the future. The club should do the decent thing and pay him off if he's not going to feature again; putting him in the squad like that is just a facade.

Agree with the paying off of his contract as we have with others. But i dont understand some of the sympathy on here especially after Wilder himself has told these transfer listed players to find themselves new clubs and that they are currently dragging their heels. No matter how old or how much they are getting payed or how much they have done for the club when the manager tells you he wants you to leave they should leave.

His goals and assists helped us on our way to 13 points last season, he himself got us 4 with a goal against Stoke and the winner against Brentford away, and that's not including what he did for us while at Wigan.

The entire team did nowt really January 2018 to season end, but he still scored 5 goals and got 3 assists.

Not saying start him against Southampton, but he's done plenty.
