Progress on upgrading the Lane for Premier League?

I saw what happened when we spent loads building the South stand though. ;)

Fact.

Over my 40 years of watching the Blades we have averaged being a mid to upper table Championship side.
People assume we are now going to be a permanent fixture in the PL .
Possibly with CW/AK this could be true buts lets have a season or two there first.

How many of these 'new' fans are only here to see PL football, do you think they will keep turning up if we drop back down ?

I would rather have a 'Sheffield mentality' of cautious sensibility, rather than a spend spend spend mentality that has not worked for Bury, Fulham,Sunderland, Stoke, Chesterfield,SWFC, Birmingham, Etc Etc.

The list of fiscal failures in football is far higher than the top 10 in thePL.

Fact.

Interesting post Tom. As you correctly state, becoming a PL fixture is a fantasy unless the club takes a long hard look at why we're here. We need to look at this on a season by season basis, the one thing you cannot escape is that the resources that come from being a PL club will contribute to the likelihood of an extended stay in the PL. Key to all of this is the quality of our management, allied to a Board who share the same aspirations as our management. As has been reported earlier this season, ensuring that improvements to the training ground are taken seriously are as vital as the players we recruit. It's exactly this mindset that needs to be cultivated throughout the club, in other words mid to long term planning needs to be at the top of any priorities the club has if it wishes to compete at the highest level.

Regarding 'new' supporters, of course what has been highlighted over the last few days is that we need a streamlined, far less complicated, approach enabling supporters, be they mildly curious or hardcore, to buy a ticket without feeling as if they're being put through unnecessary hoops. A welcoming approach to anyone who wishes to part with their hard earned is surely the ideal, and whilst I understand the necessity to provide a seat(s) for long-term supporters, surely allocating between 1500-2000 tickets for those who fancy visiting the Lane, isn't beyond the realms of practical, applied thinking? Of course, make sure that all supporters are part of a data base, the benefits of this should be obvious with all the commercial possibilities attached. But common sense appears to have been nudged to one side, so perhaps someone should say 'stop!' while the club reconsiders it's approach to what is, after all, the core of why the club exists, in essence it's here to please the fan-base?

Personally, the 'caution' you advise is something I share, but like many things the scale of how much caution we apply is key. For example, I'm delighted with the amount that's been spent by our manager, other people may feel this to be excessive, so ensuring we get that balance right, and sometimes understanding why this spend might need to be increased, is something that needs to be at the heart of the planning I referred to. Long term projects, such as ground improvements, will be addressed relative to the success of the football team. The team is the heartbeat of this club, so heed the manager's advice and plan around this.

Apologies if I've waffled.......good post fella.

Strange Bournemouth have not built a new stadium then with their billionaire owner.
There are a couple of issues. I don’t think they own the land surrounding the stadium and might struggle to get planning consent even if they could acquire the land. They’ve been looking at alternatives but land in that area is either protected or expensive. It’s a bit like Brighton that had no suitable brownfield sites and was surrounded by an Area of Natural Beauty. It took them a long time to find a suitable site and get planning permission.

Why do we need 2? Bloody Premier league pft! I take it it's that private room area you could hire they've changed.
Because whilst we're on sky and BT a couple of times during the season, we're on TV around the world every week. Assume both studios will be in use with Bein, NBCSN, DAZN, who ever decides to do their coverage from the lane that week

Any word on the new beer pouring system? Is this just the south stand or is it across the ground?

The only times Lineker will be sat in there will be when we are in the fa cup once a year if that, doubt that will be often as we go out early nowadays anyway

Looking at this, can't see how any seats will be restricted view because of the media shed. The pitch is to the right by a fair bit anyway, probably the best part of 20m, so you're never going to be looking in the direction of the box.

It juts out Infront of the South stand wall by a couple of metres, and the front of the South stand is about 10m ahead of the wall.

It looks like they're removing the seats in the very bottom corner, but they never sell/were not on sale anyway, and they would have been the only ones with something actually in front of them.

'View from the pitch' ? Cheeky bastards, Roygbiv is our man for doing all those. Although in fairness, he's never done a 'from the pitch' yet.

I thought it might have been an opportunity to totally box in that corner, to create a fully enclosed ground thus adding to atmospherics of BDTBL

There isn’t any seats in that bottom corner to start with

They’ve only gone and tarted up the Pukka Pies corner!!

That’s what I initially thought......but if you look at that video it shows a weird mirror image effect, which explains why the stands aren’t where you expect them to be.

That media room they’ve built is in the corner between the Kop and South stand.
The Pukka Pie corner hasn’t been touched as you can see in the pic above.

Just looks like they took the Pukka Pie sponsorship boards off it to me.

Yeah they've took those off, and painted that little wall separating the Kop red. Seats are still pink (bit less pink maybe), don't know what else they've done but every little helps I suppose.

Taken signage off and replaced top boardings as well. Looks much better in my opinion.

They’ve also covered the south stand / west field corner with red boardings

I am sure they will be replaced with new sponsorship boards.
