Progress on upgrading the Lane for Premier League?

Would it be sacrilegious to suggest that we have something similar to that application of "Sheffield United Football Club" on the back of the Kop rather than the painted letters?

Bit posh innit.

It will look splendid on the completed Kop redevelopment in 2050.

The financial rewards on offer for being in the premier league are for the purpose of competing with the rest both in terms of team and ground improvement.

Strange Bournemouth have not built a new stadium then with their billionaire owner.

Having just been to pick up from the station, good luck to anyone needing to go on Queens Road on Sunday. Wonder if they'll get the rest of the Bramall Lane tarmaced by then as well. Half done and white lines painted. Other half just raised manholes.
One other thing to mention too, is that the private taxi bit at the station has now been closed and they are now having to use the ‘normal’ pick up and drop off point used by you and I.

So an already poor and congested drop off point will become worse by being clogged up with Über drivers.

Something to note should anyone be getting a cab or lift up from the ground.

It was. It took 30 minutes to go effectively around the block from Suffolk Road.

Drove past this morning to avoid the aforementioned chaos on Queens Road. The new tv box now has the coverings around it, but seems to still need its outer cladding (wouldn't have thought that this would take long). There seemed to be some work ongoing by with the signage on the South Stand, near the platinum suite, could see the old GAC sponsorship on view - assume it's being replaced with "Novell Coffee Tony Currrie Arnold Laver (New) South Stand".

You should have seen it before. See also the post below yours.

Your post is just another example of the Sheffield mentality of comparing us with the worst to justify mediocrity.

I saw what happened when we spent loads building the South stand though. ;)

Fact.

Over my 40 years of watching the Blades we have averaged being a mid to upper table Championship side.
People assume we are now going to be a permanent fixture in the PL .
Possibly with CW/AK this could be true buts lets have a season or two there first.

How many of these 'new' fans are only here to see PL football, do you think they will keep turning up if we drop back down ?

I would rather have a 'Sheffield mentality' of cautious sensibility, rather than a spend spend spend mentality that has not worked for Bury, Fulham,Sunderland, Stoke, Chesterfield,SWFC, Birmingham, Etc Etc.

The list of fiscal failures in football is far higher than the top 10 in thePL.

Fact.

Chesterfield showed ambition by building a new ground.

When we built the South stand we were lumbered with the debt for years.

A debt which prevents spending on the team.

Yeah they should have stayed at Saltergate, oldest ground in the league and looking like it. I'd love to see the world through your eyes, reactionary doesn't even come into it.

Chesterfield are solvent by the way, i.e. their assets outweigh their liabilities and most of their debt is to Deadly Dave. They are in trouble playing wise because they are a shitty little club in a shitty little town with lousy support. Most of them are latent Blades and pigs anyhow.

Doh

If/when we redevelope the south stand/Kop will we knock the new TV box down or are we going to build around it, I am sure the facilities will be very good on the inside but from outside it does look like it's been built to do a job with little or no thought of the future regarding appearance and style

I reckon a few seats won't be able to see the dugout and corner flag at the other end, but it doesn't look too bad from that picture.

The structure itself appears to be set back. Unless the scaffold and cherry picker are permanent? :)

I almost have sympathy for the occupants of this effergy.
The constant battering of bricks and bottles cascading onto it's roof and kop facing side will inhibit smooth commentating.
