Very good two page article in the mail today from Deano, comes across as a top man.
 
Peter Schmeichel in goal and No 4 Steve Bruce just an admiring spectator. It's a shame Didsy didn't quite manage scoring the 1st goal of the 2019 season!

If the picture was a little clearer then I might be able to see myself too, just behind the white wall in the JSS.
During the 80’s always used to stand on the John Street terrace near the St Johns ambulance area
But when we were promoted in 89, a few of us decided to treat ourselves by sitting in the John Street seats, fairly central but nearer the KOP.

The guy sat behind me, also with a season ticket was the landlord of the Fat Cat pub on Alma Street during the late 80’s and 90;s.
He had a pony tail, think he was called Steve, always had Blades photos and Blades posters up in his pub.
Was told by the bar staff that he died a few year back.

Very good and Mail in the same sentence shocker!

Deano is sound. I’ve got a Leeds mate who loves Deano and met him via a friend of a friend on a night out, some of his group were mates with Deano’s Missus I believe, and he said Deano was an absolute pleasure to be around.
 
God 27 years what a day that was, Deano is a grounded person no airs and graces about him, he's Mr Congeniality all round great bloke.
 
I now feel very old. I was 16 and took my girlfriend to her first game. Had to move my seat from 3/4 the way back of the kop to the front row. Pretty much where the six yard box meets the touch line to the left of the goal as you look from the kop. Basically the perfect place to witness this momentous goal. Which was good because anything in the other half of the pitch was utter guesswork as to what was going on. No seats should be that low!
 



Deane and Agana....both excellent players
But what makes them real hero’s and legends of our club is the human side....they were both so level headed and humble.
Great people who will always be remembered and very welcome at our club.

Tony Agana went back to University.. i was doing a presentation of my MSc thesis to the undergrads and i noticed a bloke in the audience and i thought 'he looks familiar'. i asked the Course leader and she told me .. 'oh that's Tony. he used to be a footballer or something' ..
footballer or something!! .. so you know who that 'is' !! :D i was too star struck to speak to him

Yep - admit to having missed that; didn't start taking any interest until Blades involvement on Saturday. Haven't been arsed to watch any Prem football for years to be honest. I suppose Sky would have screwed up fixtures back then too if they'd been in control. Wouldn't have had the same impact to have been able to say "fastest goals in both the inaugural 1992 season AND the 2019 Prem season". Hey Ho...

Steve fearn. Sadly died of a heart attack about 3years or so ago.
 
I'm sat on the same seat on the Kop behind the goal that I was that day, still moaning about the lack of room, Billy to score with a header after 5 minutes in front of the Kop on Sunday? 🙄
 
They replayed the match in full 2 years ago today on the BBC red button as part of 25 years of the Premier League.

The standard from both teams was fucking woeful. Neither could string 3 passes together. All hail Arsene Wenger and the outlawing of flying tackles; football is now a much greater spectacle to watch.
